Vice President Mike Pence said signaled that he believes a controversial memo detailing alleged government surveillance abuses should be released to the public, but said its a decision that ultimately falls to President Trump.
That's a decision that the president will make and he'll make that public at the appropriate time, Pence told Politico in an interview published Thursday. I will tell you, Ive always believed in the publics right to know, and I stand by that principle. But well respect whatever decision the president makes concerning that memo.

Imagine if this were a “classified” Democratic memo outlining treason and crimes by a republican Administration. It would have been published in the New York Times before the ink was dry.
Right and despite the fact hundreds have read it no leaks. No NYT no WasPos no CNN
In other words... hes full of Schiff.
Congress has become a Schiffhole.
Bzzzt. It falls to the House. Pence gets my antennae up from time to time despite having been by all outward indications an exemplary VP. This is one of those times.
Local news this morning said with a serious expression that President Trump has five days to STOP release of this memo...ROFL...
“its a decision that ultimately falls to President Trump”........
Since the “House” approved it for release, is it not THEN the President’s call, assuming there is classified information within the report? The POTUS has the option to de-classify the information before releasing it. I believe I read that some time ago but need clarification.

If there is no objection from the Executive then it returns to the House for release. Trump cannot directly release it himself.
Hey Pence, it’s a Republic. We citizens have a responsibility to know.
#ReleaseTheDamnMemo
Not really accurate.
Trump can declassify the document, since he has the ultimate classification authority.
Once declassified, it becomes a public document and he can do anything he wants with it.
Trump should say he has decided to take no action on the memo which would mean he will not block it.
He is not required to declassify, the House can and will release their memo by their own selves. Executive authority over the matter extends to objection, at which point the House can still vote to release over the objection of the Executive. In the absence of objection the House is still the authority doing the releasing. It is not Trump’s memo no matter how hard they’re all trying to make it his memo.
Correct.
They are correct, actually. The classified material is classified by the executive. The House has the power to disclose classified information to the public even over reasoned objections from the executive. It's part of checks and balances.
Not that the executive can't disclose it on his own, just that the procedure that is running is a committee-initated one, that has the committee disclosing classified information. If the president objects, a majority of the House can still disclose.
Please, I totally agree. President Trump does not have to declassify it or do anything with it.
I was just alluding to the idea that President Trump couldn’t do anything about the memo. He can declassify and release if he wanted to.
You are totally correct in saying that they want to brand this as Trump’s memo. That is why he probably will not just declassify it on his own, he does not want to own the memo.

Yes and No.
If the committee that creates the document votes to make it public, or unclassify it then the President has the opportunity to deny that and keep it classified. If the President decides to keep it classified then the whole house has the opportunity basically to override the Presidents veto with a simple majority vote to release it.
