Amen sister!
22 years ago I left the Roman Catholic Church because the Lord loved me so much that He had somebody point out the error of my ways through Holy Scripture.
A dear sister in Christ had this as her “tagline” a few years ago. It’s the best one I’ve ever seen!
“Jesus + something = NOTHING, Jesus + nothing = Everything”

The basic fact that this thread is as long as it is due to disagreements over John 6:29, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31, and John 14:6 shows exactly what you & I are talking about.Yep. These threads get too long, and we are still trying to figure out what the meaning of the word is is. I have no problem understanding the verses you mentioned. I didnt understand when I was a Catholic, because I had no spiritual discernment at all.
The preaching of the cross, really WAS foolishness to me. When I was born from above, and left the Catholic Church in 1970, then, the blinders were removed, and I began to grasp the true Gospel, and abandoned the false Gospel that I had been involved in.
I was at Mountain Home at the time. Some guys accused me of getting religion cuz I was shipping out for Vietnam. The truth was, I got mercifully saved, before I got orders for Vietnam. I managed to survive that. 👍😁😇 and I escaped this. 🔥 Others say we use religion as a crutch. If one wants to consider saving faith in Christ as a crutch, have at it. 👍

Yes, all those I statements, remind me of another individual, who made one too many I statements, and he, and his home boys, were tossed out on their proverbial ears. 👋👎👽

Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary is a Co-Redemptrix upon whom we can cast all of our cares and petitions.
Prove it.

HereIn, it is exactly that - the Lord’s call who is saved.
This in-fighting is destructive, imho. It is certainly not uplifting - just fighting the Reformation fights all over again. There are plenty of enemies outside the walls, are there not? But we choose denominational in-fighting? On a Sunday? It’s very poor, imho.

Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary is a Co-Redemptrix upon whom we can cast all of our cares and petitions. Some Roman Catholic writers even say Mary is necessary for salvation....that without Mary's help you cannot come to Christ. Please list a few of these Roman Catholic writers. Where did you hear about this concept about Mary? It is definitely not the teaching of the Catholic Church. I find it interesting that some people, uneducated about the teachings of the Catholic Church, feel free to speak so definitively about something that is factually untrue.

FReepers - you know that question: “Would anyone know I am a Christian by spending time with me?” (to paraphrase). This discussion is anything but Christian, imho. If Christ were on this thread, would you post the same?

It took all of 3 seconds to google it and find some links.
From the Catechism of the Catholic church....
Mary Co-Redemptrix
http://catholicism.org/mary-co-redemptrix.html
And then there's this from the CCC.
http://www.vatican.va/archive/catechism/p123a9p6.htm
969 This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation .... Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.510
Names of God from the Bible. Compare them to the names given to Mary in the above prayer.
Jesus
Hope (our) - 1 Timothy 1:1
Counselor - Isaiah 9:6
Advocate - 1 John 2:1
Mediator - 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 9:15, Hebrews 12:24
Holy Spirit
Comforter - John 14:26
Helper John 14:16
This is worship of Mary if ever there was.....Attributing to her the attributes of God is idolatry.

You mean the Jesus who cleared the Temple with a whip He made with His own hands?
The Jesus who called the pharisees and religious leaders of the day hypocrites because of their adherence to tradition and allowing it to supplant the Law?
That Jesus?

Elsie, dear, due to the FACT that most people on the planet, Christians included, refer to their male parent, regardless of their native language, as FATHER, at your age it should have occurred even to you that there is something seriously wrong with your own private interpretation of the Good Book
Jesus; dear; we can disobey what you said 'cause the words mean something different to us Catholics.

Prove it.
put your money where your mouth is. Sigh...
Caution! The following just MIGHT be Catholic teaching...
When therefore we read in the writings of Saint Bernard, Saint Bernardine, Saint Bonaventure, and others that all in heaven and on earth, even God himself, is subject to the Blessed Virgin, they mean that the authority which God was pleased to give her is so great that she seems to have the same power as God. Her prayers and requests are so powerful with him that he accepts them as commands in the sense that he never resists his dear mothers prayer because it is always humble and conformed to his will.... St. Louis de Montfort, in Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, #27, 246.
