Wisconsin Upset Raises Hopes for Democrats in 2018 Races
MSN/ New York Times ^ | January 17, 2018

A Wisconsin Democrat won a State Senate seat on Tuesday night that had been held by a Republican for 17 years, setting off a flurry of political predictions across a state that President Trump won. Republicans warned that it was a “wake up” call for their party as elections loom in the fall, while Democrats cheered the upset victory as a sign of hope that Wisconsin was back in contention.

In the state’s first special election of 2018, Patty Schachtner, a Democrat and the St. Croix County medical examiner, beat Representative Adam Jarchow, a Republican member of the State Assembly, by nine percentage points, according to preliminary election returns, decisively taking the seat in a rural western region near the Minnesota border.

No but the GOP can sit on the S@@@hole and lose gracefully, which is their plan.

Their problem is President Trump has other plans.

yep it’s their plan.

They are collect a ton of donations off of POTUS name and yet sabotaging him and his policies.

They want to “lose” as in stick it to POTUS and to US..repeat they want to show US who is boss just as much as they do POTUS.

Looked at the turnout: 12% Pub, 33% Dem.
Apparently Dems hustled while Pubs sat on their hands.

It’s a state senate seat in WI. I wouldn’t take this too seriously.

However; Republicans nationwide better not get complacent either. Politics is a blood sport and the left is highly motivated right now.

If voters wanna stay home and not see the big picture then it’s on them.

I really believe Soros and friends are behind these upsets. One by one, state by state, they will do all they can to buy / steal all votes.

Pray for President Trump! He’s our last hope.

I’m with you. Wasn’t this a GOP district? I find it hard to believe only 12% of Republicans showed up for the election. I fear that all of our voting machines from coast to coast have been and will continue to be manipulated by the enemies of our nation.

The REAL reason HRC lost is because she listened to Pansy Mook instead of the Great White James Carville. The blood you see all around us in the water leaking out of our gashes? That’s James’ handiwork.

He is going to bring the pain every single day unless we quit screaming in the corner with our hands blocking their knockout blows to our faces and start taking pieces outta THEIR ASSES.

The Dims are much more fired up than the Republicans right now. That’s a fact. If the Republicans don’t get their act together between now and November so that Republicans turn out, it will be a blood bath. That is also a fact. Hopefully, Trump will help in this regard.

Well since only 12% of Republican got off their asses and voted, yeah that’s a problem. But I think it’s fixable.

This is what happens when you have candidates who don’t inspire people and whose main credential is an R after their name. Been there done that.

I think what’s going on now is that we’re seeing the impact of 90% negative coverage of the Trump administration of the last year.

The vast majority of voters (and most non-voters) just don’t pay close attention to politics between elections. They gain impressions of what’s going on from the news they pick up incidentally from scanning their screens or hearing bits and pieces from their televisions and from people around them. They don’t go looking for political news; what news they get finds them.

And if 90% of major news stories are negative, you can expect most voters to be affected. Democrat-leaning voters hear Trump is an ass and get incensed. GOP-leaning voters hear Trump is an ass and get defensive with some just tuning out what they’re hearing.

The result is what we saw in Wisconsin (and probably in Alabama too). The Democrats are angry and come out to vote. The GOP voters are turned off by the whole mess and stay home.

Note that I’m not saying Trump has created a mess; I’m saying that 90% of what people are hearing and seeing is that it’s a mess.

This will change somewhat when we have a general election and people are paying more attention, but President Trump has a responsibility too, one that I expect he’ll take seriously as November nears. He has to make certain that he’s appearing in more and more situations where he is in charge and where good things are being accomplished for the average voter.

If the economy is still going strong, and the extent of the personal tax cuts have become obvious to people, as they should, then President Trump can help to motivate voters by making a lot of appearances that are more presidential in nature, and less campaign-like. The media will have to cover him, so he has that advantage. What he says and how he acts will get coverage. He just has to make it difficult to frame it negatively, much like his recent meeting in the Oval Office.

Exactly. The dems have a better “get-out-the-vote” machine than do the republicans.

12% voter turnout is lame.

Of course, the media doesn’t mention the other state senate race in Wisconsin, or the ones last night in Iowa and South Carolina. All three were won by GOP candidates.

People will see extra money in their paychecks next money.
The President has already stated his intention to aggressively campaign throughout the country for GOP House and Senate hopefuls.

There’s no need to throw in the towel.

The GOP has tons of money, and plenty can, and will happen between now and November.

They didn’t mention the results in Virginia, where 3 counties had fraudulent results in favor of Dems.

The President likes Twitter but I hope does not think his message is getting through well enough. He needs another way to reach Americans besides Twitter.
