Ex-gang members in El Salvador fear more crime if TPS ends

San Salvador, El Salvador - It's not every church service that includes homilies about Pablo Escobar and Al Capone.

But at a church in El Salvador, the message of sin and redemption is tailored to a different kind of parishioner: reformed members of the notorious gangs in the Central American nation.

All the men are former members of Barrio 18 or the 18th Street gang, which, along with MS-13, began in Los Angeles but is now responsible for much of El Salvador's widespread violence.

The Trump administration announced last week that in 18 months it will revoke Temporary Protected Status for more than 200,000 Salvadorans living in the United States, making them eligible for deportation.

"Bringing 200,000 people back after so many years, that's only going to create more poverty, more violence and more crime," says Will, who speaks English more fluently than Spanish after living in California for about 20 years. He arrived in the United States at the age of 10.

El Salvador's gang epidemic was born out of the country's 12-year-long civil war, which drove thousands of people to flee to the United States. Many ended up living in poor sections of Los Angeles and became either prey or new recruits for the city's street gangs.

These “temporary residencies” here to “protect foreign nationals from their own countries” have to stop. Because they ALL end up the same way. The people never go home, and in my view, that is the end game of allowing them to come here “temporarily” in the first place! Nothing with respect to illegal immigrants is “temporary,” they are here to stay once they get here, no exceptions. All these “south of the border” $hit hole countries all rely on America to take on their “inconveniently excess people!” Then the “Pope in the bedroom” conspires to make more of them.

Wait, El Salvador, like Mexico, didn't send "their best"? They sent "people that have lots of problems"? "They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists." -- that wasn't true? But the MSM told me for months that that was Wrongthink. I have to sit down. I don't know what to think any more.

They fear increased crime if the US deports the criminals who came from there to begin with.

Got it.

But we’re racist if we suggest that WE should fear increased crime if they come HERE.

The logic ... she is not.

Ex gangmembers
IN El Salvador

Trump was right about gang bangers coming to this country.

How do you sort out the reformed ones?
And how many of them are escaping retribuyion/reprisal for their criminal activities and the violence will for them into this country?

How many of them have any skills beyond a life of crime?

Will ought to be cited as an expert every time somebody claims illegal immigration is a net positive.

I have seen reports (I think on Fox) that police (maybe military) in El Salvador have been killing some MS-13 members when they are deported back from the USA.

The story was that police were either notified they were coming back, detected them at the airport, or found out they were back around town. The response was straight up death squads, called La Sombra Negra (the Black Shadow) or Los Exterminio (The Extermination) - just going to their homes at night and shooting them. A final bullet in the head is the signature.

Give every deportee a Winchester and a box of ammo as they leave.

American pioneers didn’t seek refuge in some other country. They went about the business at hand: “Taming the West”

To all illegal aliens: Go back where you belong and clean out your own ‘outhouses’
