Democrats Score Special Election Upset In Wisconsin GOP Stronghold
The Huffington Post ^ | January 16, 2018 | Amanda Terkel

Democrat Patty Schachtner won a special election for a state Senate seat in Wisconsin on Tuesday, scoring a huge upset victory for her party in a district that President Donald Trump handily captured just over a year ago.

It was the latest in a string of election victories for Democrats since Trump took office, and a sign of hope for the party that the energy from the base and frustration with the president could lead to more wins in November.

With every precinct counted, The Washington Post reported that Schachtner, the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County, won by 9 percentage points.

Yes, Scott campaigned hard and his pals the Kochs poured a ton of money in.

Nope. You'll need to find another whipping boy.

Scott Walker campaigned hard to turn out the vote and the Kochs poured a ton of money into it.

Nobody was campaigning to suppress the conservative vote. Excuses are for Hillary Clinton; they won't cut it here.

“Republicans had better start showing up for these elections, or we’re going to get destroyed.”

True dat!

There were tons of daily flyers in the mail for the Republican candidate - almost too much. Good for the recycling company.

The AZ seat is in fact a layup, I think.

Don’t know about the others.

I’m more concerned with McTurd II, McSally splitting the conservative vote and being a pain in the ass in the Senate if she can even win.

If the evildoers are going to be prosecuted, it would be a good time to get busy.

If they get indicted close to the election, it will never fly.

Yes, I clarified that in post 61.

And D overperformance in an age where young Ds know Bernie got screwed smacks of fraud.

I don’t buy that Ds are energized to come out in those numbers. I much more buy fraud.

Another way to look at it is that with D +20, 3 of 4 Rs still won.

Need to clean up the filth.

“Actually we won 4/5. Two in SC, One in in IA, and one in KS. We lost the one in WI.”

Winning four out of five isn’t enough for the negative Nellies. The gloom and doomers will focus on that one loss to justify and replenish their negativity.

It should be, this State Sen race should have been too.

The OH seat, Trump carried by “only” 11 so that’s the most concerning. The PA seat was almost 20.

You saw the AZ Senate poll? Arapio ahead of Ward, based on his higher name recognition I would gather, not good for Ward to drop to third, sign of weakness. Looks like McSally.

You act as if each election happens in vacuum. As if the Koch brothers don’t spend massively for amnesty with their left hand while they “pour a ton of money” into WI with their right. As if conservatives in WI can’t see sitting GOP Senators endorsing a Democrat in Alabama. As if the GOP didn’t promise for 8 years they would repeal Obamacare and when given the chance didn’t. Etc., etc. This all has a cumulative effect on voter enthusiasm.

Add in the well known fact that WI is hot spot of Never Trumpism and it isn’t a surprise to me that GOP voter turnout is down there.

Frankly, the GOP hasn’t earned our vote. The “were not Democrats” won’t cut it anymore. Sorry.

The DC GOP has become a party for corporate lobbyists and open borders. They haven’t given a damn about the base in years.

Its the classic example of a party run by corporate interests above all else.

I’m quite worried about the 2018’s. With the numbers favoring Democrat turnout so hard, the House may fall, and if the House falls, 100% guarantee that Trump will be impeached because he hogs the umbrella from his wife on the tarmac. And the Senate is *presently* a 100% guarantee that they would convict and remove.

And, in the face of the first American Coup, I would not live more than 2 months.

So I am facing my mortality.
