Bizarre Question About Colin Kaepernick Makes Nick Kyrgios End Interview
Yahoo Sports ^ | 1-16-2017 | Jay Busbee

There’s no better place on Earth to talk about NFL players protesting during the national anthem than the Australian Open, apparently.

Nick Kyrgios was holding what, by all accounts, was a pretty relaxed news conference following his straight-sets defeat of Rogerio Dutra Silva in the first round of the Australian Open. Then, a journalist ventured a peculiar question about former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 to protest systemic racial inequality, among other causes. The question to Kyrgios ran as follows:

“You’re friends with the American football player Colin Kaepernick and supportive of him in the past,” the reporter asked. “What are your thoughts on his not being signed by an American football team this season?

“I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to him in my life,” Kyrgios replied.

“But what are your thoughts about that?” the reporter persisted.

“I mean, I don’t even … Where does that question even come from?” Kyrgios shot back. “We’re at the Australian Open, man.” Immediately afterward, Kyrgios ended the news conference.

“He’s not black, he’s ....half Aborigine.”

And the Australian Aborigines are far longer “out of Africa” than are Europeans.

Maybe not. There are new discoveries that may be changing this long-time theory.

Did humans evolve in Europe rather than Africa? We don't have the answer just yet

Surprisingly enough, not all black people know each other.

Oops, I meant to say, “Not all people of color know each other.” Kyrgios is not black, but Greek - Malaysian.

“It’s like the time NBC kept insisting on calling a Canadian negress olympic winner an “Afro-American woman” during an interview, much to her annoyance.”

HA! I saw the same thing happen with a Canadian hockey player. (I can’t remember if he was a pro or what or why I was watching it.)

Interviewer: There aren’t too many African-American hockey players, what is that like for you?

Player: I’m Canadian.

Interviewer: is it hard to fit in with your hockey player peers as an African-American?

Player: I’m a Canadian!

It just went on and on, so, so stupid.

So who is the dumb-as-a-rock reporter?

Now we know the word “journalist” has the same meaning in Australia; an incompetent boorish boob who asks inane agenda driven questions.

I cannot imagine a rational explanation for that question. People watch sports to get away from serious debate, and this moron is trying to spread the infection from football into Australian tennis. The NFL has Colin cancer, which has spread and is terminal. Does this journalist want to contaminate tennis too?
