ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Governor Eric Greitens on Wednesday night confirmed to News 4 he had an extramarital affair, an admission a months-long News 4 investigation prompted.

In a recording obtained by News 4, a woman says she had a sexual encounter with Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens and that he tried to blackmail her to keep the encounter quiet.

The details were provided to News 4 by the woman’s ex-husband, claiming the sexual relationship happened between his now ex-wife and Greitens in March 2015. News 4 is not naming the woman and she has not made an on-the-record comment about the story.

According to the ex-husband, the recording was made just days after Greitens’ and the woman’s first sexual encounter. And also that Greitens took a photograph during the encounter to use as “blackmail” according to the ex-husband.

Handsome guy. He spoke at Girls’ State the years my daughter was there and they were ga-ga for him. I didn’t even know he was married until the campaign. But this definitely is a power discrepancy. Military hero/Harvard man and a cosmetologist. She must be a hot number to risk so much for a fling with her.

Well this is disappointing. Grietens is my Governor, he’s Republican. If he leaves office, the Lieutenant Governor Mike Parsons, is also Republican. (In Missouri they don’t have to be from the same party.)

Sad. Greitens was seen as a 2024 presidential contender, it’s over for him now.

Greitens is a disgusting phony. He’s my governor and as far as I’m concerned he can’t be gone fast enough. He was the one single Republican I refused to vote for on the 2016 ticket.

He is a front for the radical homosexual lobby who gave him millions for his insulting campaign, and when called on it refused to return the money.

He is also the poster child for why Claire McCaskill will win reelection in 2018. Gullible Missourians will fall for the same schtick with her as she desperately runs to the right.

Show-me state my patootie...

Comments from Eric’s wife, Sheena Greitens, are in the article behind the link. Interesting allegations and timing.

Okay, now that you have been caught, Gov. Greitens, do the honorable thing and resign never to run for political office again. He won’t.

Greitens was a Navy SEAL. He has a few books.

I got one on tape from the library, for my commute.

I had hoped for stories about killing hajis and dirka dirka jihad, et al.

Sadly, it was mostly about pursuing excellence and helping brown orphans.

I was severely disappointed.

Sounds like she doesn’t want to leave the Governor’s Mansion.

I always sensed him as a greasy opportunist.

Got any insight?

I just want to hear you talk smack about him, really.

This is extremely sad and disappointing.

I think the “black mail” claim, true or not, dooms any future elective plans.

I have to assume the St. Louis TV outlet has more than one source for the claim...

I’m not sure where you’re hearing negative things. Missouri is my state. I didn’t even support him in the primaries but he’s done a very good job since then.

"Blackmail is a felony with prison time."

So you're simply buying into the weird idea that an up and coming former Navy Seal, who is running for Governor, would blackmail a hairdresser? Isn't that kind of an odd concept?

I had an acquaintance that ran a restaurant and bar. He had spent fifteen years as a campaign and chief of staff type guy in Jeff City. He said he finally left because all of the people there were just so stupid. They would agree to a plan or a program to be presented and bang, they were off in the weeds like a dog after a squirrel.

Thanks!

I now know far more about this man, whom I had never heard of before, than I had assumed my wee query would have elicited.
