Here's why. We are in a strange time. The economy is booming and more people are doing better. However (and whether you like it or not here on FR), the President is personally very unpopular with a wide swath of people.
Will people vote against Trump and the Rs because they don't like Trump? Or will they vote to reward the Rs because things are generally going so well? Again, this is a strange time with a booming economy and a personally unpopular president. Very rare situation. So anybody's prediction is just crap.
With that said, I wouldn't put it past the Rs to tank at least 1 chamber, because they need a bogie man, and if they hold the House/Senate/Presidency, they don't have an excuse for not passing the stuff they say they are going to pass. If they lose the House, they can blame those wascally wabbits, the House Democrats.

I suppose that the over 100 million people whose paychecks show higher take-home pay, and those whose stocks increase in value, are just going to toss it all away by letting democrats take over congress?
Rove and Perino need to set up housekeeping together in a little shack on a corner of Dubya’s ranch. They can bask in the glow of Bush wonderfulness 24/7 and leave us the hell alone.
The GOP is going to lose a lot of the purple states. Tax hikes don’t inspire confidence.

Rove isn’t wrong here. The Republicans have to get onboard with the MAGA agenda and they need to fire up and motivate the Trump voter... if they don’t they very well will lose the house.
Dems will be fired up and motivated to show up... many a red district in deep blue states could get flipped. If republicans don’t get the Trump /MAGA voter motivated to show up and counter it by taking blue districts in red states they very well may lose the house.
Basically they need to get on board MAGA and Trump need to campaign just as hard as he did during his campaign firing up and motivating the MAGA voter to turn out. Make sure they understand what is at stake and hey they need to show up.
