Kennedy accuses Emanuel of 'strategic gentrification plan' to force blacks out of Chicago

Democratic governor candidate Chris Kennedy on Wednesday accused Mayor Rahm Emanuel of leading a “strategic gentrification plan” aimed at forcing African-Americans and other minorities out of Chicago to make the city “whiter” and wealthier.

“I believe that black people are being pushed out of Chicago intentionally by a strategy that involves disinvestment in communities being implemented by the city administration, and I believe Rahm Emanuel is the head of the city administration and therefore needs to be held responsible for those outcomes,” Kennedy said during a news conference about gun violence in North Lawndale.

“This is involuntary. That we’re cutting off funding for schools, cutting off funding for police, allowing people to be forced to live in food deserts, closing hospitals, closing access to mental health facilities. What choice do people have but to move, to leave?” Kennedy added. “And I think that’s part of a strategic gentrification plan being implemented by the city of Chicago to push people of color out of the city. The city is becoming smaller, and as it becomes smaller, it’s become whiter.”

Kennedy, an heir to the iconic Massachusetts political family, has sought to appeal to African-American voters, focusing on the issue of gun violence and questioning the fairness of educational opportunities and property taxation in black neighborhoods. The names of his uncle, the late President John F. Kennedy, and father, the late U.S. Sen. Robert Kennedy, still carry resonance among older black voters from the family’s leadership in the struggle for civil rights during the 1960s.

Kennedy, who has had a tough time raising campaign money, is searching for a path to victory in the March 20 Democratic governor primary. He has ramped up his critiques of the Democratic establishment

Before Obama, the term “community organizer” was synonymous with “unemployed ‘hoodrat demanding free sh!t”; now we are supposed to pretend there is something noble about that behavior.

Nobody wants to pay the tab for all of these unproductive people; the answer here in NJ, once it became clear that cities like Irvington (next to Newark) couldn’t even gas their police cars, was to simply spread them around the state where there were healthier hosts to pay for everything for them. It doesn’t work, and nobody wants to buy homes in any area where development might land a pack of welfarians on their doorstep/wallet.

You’ve gotta get over that bias against AP. Its gentrified section is a hell of a lot more than “a couple of blocks.” It’s the entire east side divided by Route 35. It’s like saying Ocean Grove is not gentrified because of Neptune.

Says the guy who’s family resides in an ultra white enclave on the Cape, went to an elite private school and hails from the most racist, segregated city in the country, Boston.

White guy using the term “people of color”. “allowing people to be forced to live in food deserts,”. I don’t know when I have heard such pandering. Hopefully (doubtful) the people to whom he is pandering see through it. #nomorekennedys

I processed into the Army out of the Newark MEPS. The night before we shipped, we were put up in a motel in East Orange. There were Marine Corps MP’s on our floor. I asked one if they were there to make sure no one went AWOL, he said “No, we are here to keep them out” apparently it was a Section 8 dumping ground and they liked to rob the recruits at night.

I’m not unfamiliar with the area; they still have a dangerous population that hinders the recovery of the area.

Exactly. Along with his whining about closing Hospitals...
Who wants to work where it’s open door for crack heads and gang bangers and Illegals to walk in and demand anything.

Perhaps if those perps had something other than medicaid for insurance or actually paid for services themselves the Hospitals could afford to stay open.

I could absolutely believe it; supposedly when Route 280 was built (separating north Newark from the rest) the overpasses were designed so a sideways APC could block them (though the roadway underneath seems too wide).

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by several visits there this past summer. I have yet to make it to the pinball museum - on my list for sure!

It’s a fun place although when I lived there I hated to see “Tillie” go and fought against the destruction of the Stone Pony. (We won that battle!) My closest friend is their town historian and while the town fathers tried to destroy him, he survived to help rebuild that charming place.

I fondly remember finding old original arcade games (post-pinball) in shore arcades years after they’d disappeared up here in north Jersey; over time they just didn’t work as well, and I’d think the people who maintained/repaired them had probably retired...

We got a call from this ass clown’s campaign asking us to vote for him in the primary. Odd, because we are registered Republicans.

Kennedy’s trying to excite the Blacks to vote against the Jewish front-runner, J. B. Pritzker.

“Not in Illinois and Kennedy is running in Illinois. Illinois does not register voters by party affiliation.”

Your information is incorrect. You can get a list of primary voters from your local County Registrars Office which clearly states which ballot a voter pulled. I used it when I ran for Precint Committeeman for the local Republican organization.

Socialists believe that it is racist to allow people to profit from renovating their slum property. Their policies keep rents high by strangling the addition of good housing to the available supply. Why are Republicans too brain dead to make an issue of this?

Hmmm... gentrification started when the Civil Rights started taking care of white gays before blacks and of muslims before blacks and of Mexican illegals before blacks, but do not tell to black people that Obama was the biggest promoter of gentrification and enslavement of blacks in Africa at the hands of white arabs
