HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) A teenage girl was among two people who were shot and killed by security guards outside a pop-up teen club in Hillsborough County on Monday night.
Jyhaad D. Grant, 25, and Julissa D. Jackson, 15, were found dead inside a vehicle after they were shot by two security guards who said they feared for their lives. Grant and Jackson were Tampa residents.
Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office deputies responded a 911 call at 11:30 pm about a shooting at a facility known as The Club located at 5809 50th St. N.
The facility is a storage building that is rented out for events.
About 150 to 200 people were attending a teen night Pajama Jam from 8 p.m. until midnight on Monday. The event closed early at 10:45 p.m. because of multiple fights, deputies said.
Investigators said the crowd was in the process of leaving when the armed security guards heard fireworks and then gun shots.
The security guards were investigating where the gun shots were coming from and saw a person firing a gun from a car, according to deputies.
Both security guards returned fire in fear of their lives, deputies said.
Grant and Jackson were found dead inside the vehicle. When deputies arrived, most of the crowd had left the scene.
Deputies have not yet released any details about who was shooting from the car or whether a gun was located.
Jackson leaves behind a 2-month-old son, according to her great-grandmother Elease Moore.
She said grandmamma, Ill be right back, lll be back. She got halfway out the door and smiled and that was the last time I saw her alive, Moore said.
Grant leaves behind a 2-month-old girl and his girlfriend of eight years.
Grants girlfriend, Angel Madison, said despite being arrested in the past, Grant was working to change his life around after learning he would become a father.
Ill let her know that he really, really loved her, Madison said.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds for Grants funeral.
Madison said Grant was friends with Jacksons family.
She said Jackson and her friends asked Grant to take them to the party and he decided to stay since he was already there.
What’s a pop-up club?
Well, that’s one more issue isn’t it.
There must be around ten here.
One that might not have occurred to folks, if he was turning his life around, isn’t that indicative of him being on parole? There’s a good chance of it.
Here his is hanging out at a peripheral high crime activity event, (most likely) with liquor, with a gun, possibly discharging it in pubic, with a minor female.
If this was turning his life around, what was his original heavy duty problem? LOL
Yes, you should always let your teens go to a party at a storage place. I heard on WFLA this morning that the victims were shooting at the security guards.
You’ve got that right.
At top speed, no doubt.
15 y.o. with a 2 month old child was likely licking the licorice stick at age 14.
But according to BJ Clintoon that wasn’t sex.
They aren’t as popular in the AA community. I saw a cashier at Winn Dixie with a name X’enya’ette. Why do they give their kids crazy names?
No, the 25 year old is a friend of the 15 year old family. The security guards are blacks, too.
You're about the fifth person on this thread to make that assumption. The 25-year-old was not involved with or the father of the 15-year-old's child. Two separate "newborns" from two separate sets of parents. He, apparently, was just he chauffeur.
Yes, that’s pretty much what I expected.
When she said he was working,... I winced.
It does depend on the understanding of the word “working” doesn’t it.
Jyhaad D. == Jihadi.
Not 24-7 on CNN or msnbc only because security guards were black. If they had been white the “reverend” al Sharpton would have already caused a riot. Saw al once. I kid you not . He is surrounded at all times by 5 black muslem security guards.
That's not how one gets pregnant.
Regards,
“I’m still trying to find the part where Jyhaad was an aspiring rapper. I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. “
Oh no! Jyhaaaad wad gon be REV Jyhaaad!
15 year old with a 2 month old kid out to midnight ...Hmmmm....
