My great grandmother dipped snuff, loved pork and anything with lots of fat. She lived alone in the hills of Tennessee for the last half of her 100 year life span and never had electricity. I remember visiting her at her mountain cabin as a kid and staying the night a couple of times which I recall vividly due to the sheer fright of having to go outside in the dark in the middle of the night to take a dump. I think that effects of what you eat has more to do with genetics than what you eat as long as you get the nourishment you need to live. I was a vegetarian for 25 years but finally decided that all I was doing was depriving myself of lifes pleasures in hopes of a bit longer life. Since including meat in my diet I feel just as healty and less deprived.
Why would a true vegan crave something that tastes like meat?
We just always want our product to be indistinguishable, Brown says. This is one I felt we could get closer to the animal equivalent than other categories.
Double speak for looks and tastes like sh** .....
Haven’t tried theirs, but I’ve got a bean I’m breeding that tastes like beef. It’s closer in flavor than any vegetarian dish I’ve ever made the mistake of trying, and it has the benefit of being home-grown.
Wonder if they’d sponsor my project? Hmm....
Note to self: Stay away from Beyond Meat. I love vegetables, but steak and potatoes is better than ‘fake meat’ and potatoes.
