GOP rep says he has assurance FBI, DOJ officials will be subpoenaed

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Oh.) said late Saturday that he received an assurance from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) that subpoenas would be issued for various senior FBI and Justice Department officials amid increased GOP allegations of anti-Trump bias in the bureau.

"Chairman Goodlatte has told us he is going to subpoena those individuals," Jordan told Fox News's Jeanine Pirro on "Justice with Judge Jeanine."

Jordan was referring to deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe, senior counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, FBI attorney Lisa Page, former associate deputy attorney general Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie, who reportedly worked for Fusion GPS, which collected opposition research on Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"There are two fundamental questions: Did the FBI pay Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier, and was the dossier the basis of getting warrants to spy on people associated with President Trump's campaign?" Jordan continued.

The Hill has reached out to Goodlatte's office for comment.

Jordan's comments come as Republican claims of anti-Trump bias within the FBI escalate.

Republicans have pounced on text messages between Strzok and Page that showed the two criticizing the real estate magnate during the campaign.

Strzok, who was dismissed from Mueller's team earlier this year, had said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was "an idiot like Trump," while Page called Trump "a loathsome human."

"God, Hillary should win 100,000,000-0," Strzok said in another message to Page.

I want a law that says pleading the Fifth about actions taken as an employee of the federal government results in instant dismissal and loss of all benefits. We all know none of the rest of us would keep our jobs if we pleaded the Fifth about our work.

I want to see these bastards on the hot seat taking the Fifth Amendment. If “lying” to the FBI is bad, what the hell is the FBI lying to the American people?

JIM JORDAN MUST ASK “Do you know of any presidential assassination plans in the works?

We know the answers they’ll give....but asking the question is enough.

Even when congress actually investigates and actually finds something they never turn it over for prosecution. Maybe someone gets fired and it all just goes away.

Yeah, and when those subpoenas are ignoraed, the House and Senate committees doing the investigations will just say: "Don't make us issue more subpoenas!". And on and on it goes.
