Morgan Spurlock’s cynical guilty plea — for what exactly?
NY Post ^ | Dec 15, 2017 | Andrea Peyser

It’s come to this.

Morgan Spurlock has issued a dramatic, guilt-fueled, angst-ridden confession entitled, “I Am Part of the Problem.’’ By his own account, the filmmaker, 47, best known for the 2004 documentary take-down of the fast-food industry, “Super Size Me,’’ was extremely, horrifically and chronically naughty. Yet as he tells it, he never sexually assaulted anyone, nor did he touch, grope or kiss any person without invitation or tacit agreement.

As Spurlock tells it in an online post, he did not sexually harass, fire, spank or tickle any females over whom he exerted professional or physical power, nor did he exhibit a Louis C.K- style fetish for spontaneously stroking his unclothed man parts. He did not admit to grossing out potential conquests, as did an ever-growing laundry list of monstrous, testosterone-troubled dudes, from Harvey Weinstein, who represents the Rosetta-Stone of abusers, to creepy Kevin Spacey.

By his own admission, he did something he considers ill-mannered, but hardly illegal: He had consensual sexual relations with partners during his current and previous marriages, cheated on every one of his girlfriends, and teased a female assistant with shouts including “hot pants.’’

This is news?

It's good publicity for future projects and ingratiates him with his left-leaning audiences and financial backers.

I am sure that we are all very shocked by Spurlock's admission that he is not a saint.

Yuh see, that's what it boils down to. The tacit assumption here is that every Liberal is, a priori, without sin, blameless, immaculate, impeccable.

Making a minor admission like this - hardly comparable with St. Augustine's Confessiones - is a form of virtue-signalling.

"Hey, look! I admit I'm not perfect! Once, in third grade, I picked my nose and stuck it to the bottom of my desk. In eighth grade, I once called a girl 'catty.' But other than that... Well, yes, I'm practically perfect!"

Regards,

Morgan Spurlock
Who?

He made a documentary calle Supersize Me where he went on an all-McDonalds diet and the results were so bad that McDonalds discontinued supersizing. Everything he has done since then has flopped, which is why he's trying for one more bite of the apple.

Exactly. JMO, but an absolute poser masquerading as a Serious Documentary Filmmaker.

“Supersize Me” gave him his 15 minutes of fame. He apparently wants 30 or so. I’ve had too much of him as it is.

Oh, yes, how many of us heard about those eating McDonald’s food as part of a mindful diet, and lost weight? Uh-huh. I remember seeing a couple stories about that in the months after Spurlock’s “documentary” hit the scene.

Astroturfed or not, it simply demonstrates how individual responsibility comes into play. If you eat too much and don’t exercise — guess what, you gain weight!

I’m shocked, I tell you, just shocked!
