What if Jeff Sessions is not asleep, but playing possum?
American Thinker ^ | December 15, 2017 | Brian C. Joondeph

Conventional wisdom is that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asleep at the wheel – from recusing himself unnecessarily from the Trump-Russia collusion investigation to doing nothing about the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice. He also gave free rein to his deputy A.G., Rod Rosenstein, who is in turn allowing Special Counsel Robert Mueller unlimited time, money, and jurisdiction to investigate President Trump's entire life.

Last summer, Trump expressed disappointment in Sessions, calling him "beleaguered," wondering why Sessions wasn't looking into Hillary Clinton's emails and true election chicanery. Rudy Giuliani was floated as a possible replacement. Was Trump truly upset, or was this a calculated head fake?

There's a very good reason to suspect that Sessions is missing in action --

no leaks

This is Washington. Nothing can be accomplished in this city without some level of leaking -- especially anything that's political in nature. It's impossible to think that Sessions' efforts would be leak-free, when an avalanche of leaks come out of other DOJ segments every day.

Another reason to consider: There is no dirty tricks campaign against Sessions, Rosenstein, McCabe, and the rest. If the left had any inkling that they were being investigated, an effort would already have begun to bring down those who are investigating ala Ken Starr.

Session is down and out for the count. He screwed Trump and his base by his recusal -- which makes him directly responsible for the Mueller mess, and tangentially, he screwed us out of a Senate seat by taking a job he had no intention of performing.

Possums eventually wake up...This possum's been asleep for a year now...I don't think he's asleep...He's roadkill...

His first act of cowardice was recusing himself.

This entire Russian investigation is a political assassination meant to reverse an honest election. It is an affront to all Americans, the Constitution and the rule of law. They began it without a crime, and now they are rooting through people’s lives to create them semblance of one - all to remove the President from office. Many non-elected government officials have aligned themselves with the Democrat Party and have used their positions in the law enforcement apparatus of the government to advance the interests of that party. This is the toxic stuff of communist dictatorships and banana republics and it has finally polluted the shores of the greatest nation on Earth.

If Sessions was a real American he would have died on the podium fighting this tooth and nail.

And for once he should have raised his damn voice.

We need an Attorney General who will immediately convene a dozen grand juries to determine indictment of a huge number of current and former government employees.

Lois Lerner
James Comey
Hillary Clinton and her mafia
Eric Holder
Loretta Lynch
James Hansen
Kathleen Sebelius
Janet Napolitano
Steven Chu
Lisa Jackson
VA Secretary Eric Shinseki

That would be a good start.

While the ariticle make a point worth debating, Sundance undermines their self [being gender indeterminate here] with the following laughably naive statement:

The OIG is not a political office, but instead "[a] statutorily created independent entity whose mission is to detect and deter waste, fraud, abuse, and misconduct in DOJ programs and personnel." Above politics. Beyond reproach. As much as any government bureaucracy can be.

Where they are not political craven they are cowardly and inept. The IGs are presidential appointments. And the IGs testify to Congress independently of the administration. And the Congress is ... oh you guessed it...political.

What the IG is really good at is finding someone who got a free ham sandwhich while on government travel and failed to deduct the lunch from the meal allowance.

Reading the article, it implies the possum pounces when it wakes up. Every possum I have watched simply scurries off in haste after it awakens.

In my opinion, there is no chance of impeachment for exercising the Constitutional powers of the executive, which includes dismissing his own appointees. If President Trump is unhappy with Sessions, he can take care of it. If he chooses not to, I cannot see how this is a “Sessions problem.”

Yes. I remember when the 800 FBI files showed up on the stairs of the white house they day after statute of limitations had run. That told me a lot about her. I believe blackmail by the hillary faction has occurred hundreds of times.

Do you recall about 1 year ago hillary sent her investigators out after being told she wants to to find something on Trey Gowdy.

So what. It’s been a year. How long should we plan on waiting for action?

This is the classic Democrat obfuscation playbook here: Delay, Delay and delay. Leak out tidbits of info to mitigate the damage. Eventually this be overtaken by other events and will all be old news.

You give the Dems aid and comfort making excuses for inaction by Sessions. Don’t do it.

“As a former Senator, he’s not that sophisticated.”

Can’t argue that. Senators are hugely go along to get along, rule by committe concensus, offend nobody types of people. Herd creatures. Not key administrators, not standalone leaders.

“Playing possum” is a reference to a small, weak animal escaping predators by feigning death. If I were trying to argue that Sessions - the ATTORNEY GENERAL of the United States, the head of the Department of Justice - isn’t as comatose as he appears, I’d choose a better simile.

Picking a Congress critter for any top admin or leadership position is, to me, a poor choice.

Remember when Dubya was first elected? Rush spent months twisting himself in knots trying to spin Bush’s liberal policies into some sort of brilliant covert conservative agenda. It’s wishful thinking.
