Free agent pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick received Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy Award on Tuesday, cementing the jobless athletes new role as a civil rights icon.
After receiving the honor, Kaepernick promised that "with or without the NFL's platform, I will continue to work for the people.
"I accept this award not for myself, but on behalf of the people," Kaepernick said. "If it were not for my love of the people, I would not have protested."
Singer Beyoncé, who presented the award, said she was "proud and humbled" by the experience.
"Colin took action with no fear of consequence or repercussion," Beyoncé said. "Only hope to change the world for the better. To change perception, to change the way we treat each other. Especially people of color."

Not so fast. I'm sure the next swimsuit issue will feature transgender "women". Bruce Jenner is already waxing in preperation for the shoot.

Sheesh.

nailed it!
I think it is very appropriate for Kapernick to get the Cassius Clay award. I think he was the first of his race to ruin professional boxing, which was soon followed by many others of his race to ruin all other professional sports in which they participated. For example Hollywood Henderson, who started my dislike for professional football because of the look at me antics. This has precipitated into about all professional sports and left very little room for sportsmanship. I quit on pro football, basketball and boxing years ago. I have not watched even one minute of football since the total disrespect of our flag started. So....Thanks, Muhammad and all your traitor followers. I think college sports will be your next frontier. Too bad for those great athletes who dont agree with your un-American antics. Youve ruined it for them too.
However, the number 1 kneegro is unemployed and what’s more, unemployable.
He’s wandering around like Barack Obama, searching for past glory
FUSI
First GQ and now this. I wonder if an magazine interested in sports weighs in.
Both are/were nothing more than an America hating POS.
I thought look at me started with “Broadway” Joe [Namath]?
Since ali was basically brain dead in the end this makes sense to give it to a dead brain covered by an afro almost as big as his ego.
.
Ex Free agent semi-pro quarterback Colon Kraepernick ???
Cassius Clay had a good excuse, his head had been used as a battering ram since he was 6 years old...
.
The muzzy loving ex-ball player gets an award honoring a muzzy. Appropriate.
Spitting on Ali’s accomplishments....
The people who are now boycotting the NFL and will, with your help, eventually put the NFL out of business?
My father, who has passed, was a lifelong season ticket holder of the Chicago Bears. We spent many a cold day watching the game at Soldier Field, LOL!
He would be furious at this ridiculous turn of events.
That’s the thing that gets me. They are both adopting the religion of the man that was responsible for the slave markets in Africa and Ali even took his name.doesnt say a lot for their intelligence.
SI, the magazine? I havent looked at one in years, didnt know they were still around. Don’t care either.
Run as fast as you can from anyone who talks about their love of "the people."
