Mikheil Saakashvili, who was freed from police custody shortly after law enforcement authorities raided his apartment in Kyiv last week, is calling on Ukrainians to demonstrate in the center of the capital on December 10.
In a Facebook post late on December 7, Saakashvili told supporters he had lost his voice and was running a temperature but would "be by your side again" at a midday march to Kyiv's Maidan Nezalezhnosti, or Independence Square, on Sunday.
Saakashvili -- the former Georgian president who became governor of Ukraine's Odesa region in 2015 but quit a year later and is now a vocal opponent of President Petro Poroshenko -- thanked backers for their support in the tumult of recent days.
Is he better than the current guy?
Would it be a “historic first” if he becomes the president of two different coutries?
He's already achieved a historic first of being stripped of citizenship by two countries and then being wanted for arrest in the same two countries, so why not?
Ukraine gets the government it deserves.

Ukraine is notoriously corrupt.
He has a PR team and is doing all he can to be the first American educated, former Georgian president of Ukraine. With all of the current airbrushing of his leadership while president of Georgia, it cannot be ignored that he was quite brutal to his opponents, jailing and even ordering the killings of many. This is not a guy to be trusted and he has no business being in Ukraine. Ukraine should be run by Ukrainians and not outsiders — which include outsiders from Georgia, Russia and the U.S. Let them figure it out themselves.
They learned from the Russians.
Wrote this to a Freeper on another thread as an alternative prism by which to understand the current sentiments present among the population in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian government remains a hot mess, as does its economy. Fringe neo-Nazis continue their attempts to wreak havoc also.
BUT on the ground there is an unprecedented sense of resolve among the sound-minded people (including those of *Russian descent*) who are determined to see that their nation charts a course away from Vladimir Putin’s neo-Soviet, neo-Imperial agenda. Come what may.
For starters, every single statue of Lenin has been torn down. And the action was met with little resistance. (Only the Russian government complained.)
There’s been a spirit of revival of faith in in Christian churches across the denominational spectrum: Orthodox, Catholic, and Evangelical.
As of last month, Ukraine now celebrates two Christmases as official holidays. Western Christmas and Orthodox Christmas. This is in keeping with Kiev’s identity as the spiritual bridge between the Christianities of East and West, and is now coming to realization gradually.
And 500,000 people gathered in Maidan square last October, not to protest nor to have a gay pride parade (as some Freepers like to quip) — but to worship God. To worship Christ on the anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

Ukraine has a loooong way to go, but the spiritual resolve of its Christians should serve as a lesson to us all — especially to the citizens in Russia who time and time again choose the habits of earthly conquest and pragmatic stability, at the expense of a genuine pursuit of freedom. They tout the banner of Orthodoxy all the while refusing to fully part with the corrupt and godless legacies of its Soviet and tsarist past — which Putin is all too reluctant to part with himself.
GOD will bless the nation who turns to Him and take the difficult leap of faith even in the dark. Their rewards may not be immediate, but in the long run, they will be better off. And God has a special heart for weaker powers — as demonstrated in His faithfulness to the Israel of the Bible time and time again, the people through which He brought salvation.
So in the spirit of Ukraine:
Merry Christmas! Not just once (12/25) but TWICE! (1/7)
And may God bless every individual who makes the courageous break with the yoke of human tyranny.
With regard to the Russian people, I’ believe that Machiavelli said that a people who lived a long time under despotism often find it hard to adjust too any other system.

Saakashvili is a total head case and a con man, at one point yesterday he climbed onto the roof of his apartment building and threatened to jump if police tried to arrest him.
They should have just tossed him off and saved everyone a lot of time and trouble.

This cokehead needs to get back to Brooklyn to his legal practice. Let Soros rent him some decrepit office and put a sign like ‘Honest Mike’ or something on it. He then might organize a team of con artists to sue businesses over slippery floors, coffee too hot or cold and all such thing. That would be the best use to Saakashvili.
Saakashvili has nothing to be proud about his Georgian presidency too. His ‘economic miracle’ was a sham and a direct result of Bush administration pouring billions of dollars in aid. Most of these money stolen or wasted on establishing a military dictatorship. Also shameless lies from alphabet media luring Western investors telling fairy tales about this ‘miracle’. The day Bush left office and Obama decided to cut money flow the ‘miracle’ finished and so did Saakashvili’s popularity. That and a stupid war he started losing about fifth of his country.
Such men should not have power.
Rinse and repeat that outcome with the Ukraine once the US stops pouring billions into propping up the regime there.
Then its on to Moldova for the next neoliberal puppet show.
The critical difference between Georgia and Ukraine is in size and attitude. When you give Georgia a billion dollars there would be positive effect even given the fact they ‘d stole the most.
In Ukraine you can give them thirty billion and won’t see neither effect nor trace of money a week later.
Then you ‘d ask them WTF they ‘d say you are a hater and a Putinist.
Stalin was a Georgian.
