Long-running feud over grass clippings preceded attack on Rand Paul

The attack that left Republican Sen. Rand Paul with six cracked ribs outside his Kentucky home came after a long-simmering disagreement with a 17-year neighbor over grass clippings, according to a report.

An acquaintance of both men said the fellow doctors stood in their yards about 10 years ago and shouted at each other about grass clippings that Paul’s lawn mower sprayed onto Boucher’s property, the Washington Post reported.

The feds said they are investigating the case, in which Boucher could be charged under federal statutes that include a provision that bars assaults on members of Congress and other high-ranking government officials, the paper reported.

Mulch Blades were available as aftermarket more than 10 years ago.

Not so in the 70's when I had to bag the grass.

Interesting. I have never seen those kind of brown bags before. Folks around here just use black or green plastic yards bags for their leaves.

“grass clippings that Paul’s lawn mower sprayed onto Boucher’s property”

Come on! Even if this was the genesis of their feud, I can’t believe the neighbor would go ballistic over a few clippings maybe going 3 feet into his yard. It wasn’t like he was emptying his mower bag on the neighbor’s property.

Hang on...it's the Washington Post that wants us to believe that the neighbor of an elected official would risk 10 years at Club Fed over grass clippings?

OK,if they're saying it it must be true!

Those brown bags are omnipresent on New England sidewalks during October. They sell them in bundles at all the supermarkets here.

An argument of 10 years ago is the attacker’s motive?

Yeah, right.

When we lived in suburbia, Mr. Mercat did not believe in leaf management until the last leaf fell. Then he mulched them. We HATE leaf blowers.

The neighbor is suffering from ComDem Insanity. >>

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/11/more-on-the-democrats-assault-on-rand-paul.php

Jeff Jones, a registered nurse who worked with Boucher at the Bowling Green Medical Center, described Boucher’s politics as “liberal.”

“He was active on social media and said some negative things about the Republican agenda,” Jones said.

“I think it was unfortunate that they lived so close together,” he added.

A Facebook page that appeared to be Boucher’s included links to articles and memes critical of President Trump and a news article about a Montana Republican congressional candidate who attacked a reporter the day before winning his seat. …

Jim Bullington, a former member of the city commission, knows both men. He said Sunday that Boucher is divorced and lives alone. Bullington described Boucher as a socialist.

“He’s pretty much the opposite of Rand Paul in every way,” Bullington said in an interview.

The neighbors had been known to have “heated discussions” about health care, Bullington said, adding that Boucher is an advocate of a national health system.

Those brown bags are made and sold specifically for yard waste. Many cities have a yard waste service and pick these up. (That’s why they are piled near the curb in the photo).

Because the bag is recyclable paper, the yard waste service can just toss them/dump them into a pile without the extra labor of dumping the clippings/leaves out of the bag.

You are correct. It is not about grass clippings.

It is about the neighbor suffering from ComDem Insanity.
