Franken resignation could upend Minnesota races

Sen. Al Franken’s (D-Minn.) possible resignation on Thursday could set off a scramble among potential candidates to fill his seat while putting both Senate seats in the state up for reelection in 2018.

Franken’s Democratic colleagues rapidly pulled support from him on Wednesday, as more than half of the Senate Democratic Conference — led by a stream of successive statements seemingly coordinated by half a dozen female senators — called on Franken to resign in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations.

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Thomas Perez joined that chorus, upping speculation that Franken will step aside on Thursday, when he’s slated to make an announcement.

Yeah I know but we were in the vicinity. Bemidji is a much more memorable name than that other place you mentioned.

That’s like saying you could see Perpich or Stassen. Time has passed those by.

Slipped on the rocks at Itasca and fell into the Mississippi as a child.

Got a bit wet, but survived.

What are the odds of Franken actually resigning? I just don’t see it happening...

Whoever replaces him will be worse, in all likelihood. It’s better for us politically if he stays.

The governor is an arch-leftist socialist Democrat, so they know whoever he appoints will be one of them. But there is a special election in 2018 to fill out the term.

Watch the name Sue Jeffers.

Two Senate seats in one state is a lot of money for a party that has been having difficulty with fundraising. If the republicans can get organized and run their best candidate against the weakest democrat, they may be able to score at least one win here.

At this point franken’s defense should be in that the Congress overall has no morality, and that since he doesn’t either, he’s staying.

At least he’d be consistent.

Sue Jeffers would be an awesome candidate, but she stands little chance in Marxist MN.

Don’t you mean that you can see Pawlenty and/or Bachmann being GOP candidate possibilities, during the special election for this U.S. Senate seat?

Big differnce in Judge Moore’s case, he denies everything and there is no supporting credible evidence other that a copy of a fake yearbook entry. But there is a photo of Franken groping the sleeping woman and as far as I know he is not denying his actions only intent.

I hope my fellow Alabama voters have not fallen for the lies and like me will crawl over broken glass if needed to get to the polls next Tuesday.

I am still having a hard time understanding how Russia suposedly trying to influence our national election would be any worse than all the outside influence trying to subvert the will of the voters of Alabama. The worse of it has been all the sterotyping and all the dumb jokes about the people of Alabama being ignorant that has been all over the media lately. This is coming from liberals who prentend to be all caring and inclusive. They are really the worse samples of our society and their recent outburst of hate and anger is proof of it.

Well, I guess I will send another contribution to the Moore campaign. At this point that’s the best we can do to help him fight the evil that is trying so hard to keep him from getting to D.C. and uncovering all the skeletons in both the Democrat and GOP closets.
