Captain Chris Jett of the Burnet County Sheriff's Office said the officer was on his way home in the 12000 block of FM 1431 near Smithwick just after 10:00 p.m. when he saw the suspect shooting into a car with family of three.
The officer called 911 and exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The suspect was shot in the chest and ran off into the woods, where he was found.

We don’t know why he rammed them off the road. As said above, the road is dangerous and people speed and drive crazy on it. Could maybe have been the shooter was angry because the family was driving the speed limit and were in his way.

Dash cams and bumper cams are good additions along with cell phones only for emergency calls. Infantile road tantrums should be stopped. Prepare to get the evidence, and legislate the death penalty for them.

It is likely that there is no valid or reasonable explanation. Many, if not a majority of people these days have no consideration for anyone, particularly when they are driving. Our society has been in decline for my entire life. I do not expect the trajectory to change... especially with people from rougher parts of the world making up a larger and larger percentage of our population.
