A Virginia school board chairman is getting attention on social media for his comments on President Donald Trump and standing for the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem
Ryan Sawyers, who is Chairman of the Prince William County School Board, said in a tweet on Monday: "Your are not required to stand for the national anthem or pledge. There will be no action taken against you for choosing to not stand or participate. Our President is a bonafide idiot but you are safe in PWCS."

Sawyers spoke to FOX5's Paul Wagner, and says he didn't expect his tweet to get the attention that it did.

I agree. Conservatives and libertarians sit on their cans while the marxists are making hay. Anyone familiar with Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty know they did not shy away from “necessary actions.” Remember the words of Thomas Jefferson—”The tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots.”

Well, sure, snowflakes, you have first amendment rights to refuse to stand for the pledge. But don’t be surprised if most patriotic Americans exercise THEIR first amendment right to despise you for it. BLOOD has been shed to uphold our flag and what it stands for, including our constitutional rights, if you want to spit on the sacrifices that were made for you, it simply shows what low character you have.
If you require people to pledge allegiance when they don’t choose to do so, the loyalty to that which they pledge is greatly in question.

We used to sign a ‘loyalty oath’ in the Military.
You were NOT required to sign it.
However, if you didn’t sign it, it was assumed you just didn’t want to remain in uniform.
Sort of comes under the heading of when the ILLEGALS/guests/non citizens etc break our laws they don’t mind holding us to the free lawyer, family aid, food stamps etc but yet profess they want to turn OUR Country into the ‘shiitehole’ they are fleeing from.
We live among pathetic people.
So much for teaching patriotism to children.
Rather, teach them to disrespect the flag.
Yeah, Sawyer...sounds like a noble list of beliefs. The PROBLEM is how you democrat/socialist/liberals want to accomplish your goals. You don’t want to force anyone to stand for the flag, but you have NO trouble forcing people to pay for mandatory health insurance, or forcing people to pay to support people who are too lazy to get off their butts and get a job, or forcing people to have to see their country overrun with illegal immigrants and immigrants who want to make our country a caliphate and refuse to adapt and assimilate. You have no problem forcing our children to be taught alternative lifestyles, alternative gender, and alternative religions, from kindergarten through college. You have no problem forcing Christians to do business with people who hold beliefs anathema to theirs, or forcing people to pay for abortions. The list of what your type wants to force on us is endless and vile! But don’t let us DARE to require people to honor our flag!

When I taught I was well aware that school policy permitted students to not say the pledge. I asked that they all stand however and I said the pledge loudly. If a student did not wish to say anything that was OK with me as long as they showed the respect to stand. Much like I feel for the NFL players.
Gee, if Virginia were like the old New Jersey, somebody would say, “Let’s send this guy on a trip down the Potomac”. (John Gotti actually said something close to this about “a vacation in Jersey”).
But we are a kinder, gentler state today where the Left is running rampant from Charlottesville to Richmond to Alexandria and now Prince William County (which they want to destroy with their hatred of conservatives and love of neo-Marxist tenets).
Let’s just have the citizens of Prince William county give him a No Confidence vote and show him the door.

Heard him on 630/105.9 WMAL in DC this week. He is running for Congress and neglecting his duties on the school board. There is a recall effort brewing.
