According to a report, this settlement came at about the same time his wife, monica, was convicted of taking bribes while on the Detroit City Council. Wonder what an audit of that money would show? Was monica collecting it and funneling it to the hubby to pay off his crime victims?

Paying for his private behavior with public funds. Hopefully illegal, if not, should be. Worst part is that this is very likely business as usual around Congress. Maybe make all funding records of members of Congress public records?
Yes they are. Conduct outside the scope of work are personal damages. He should be sued for all costs and interest.

The 17.2 million in that other fund is just a pittance of what is paid out as hush money. “We determine how a Congressman or Senator can behave.” Unfortunately we do not. Congressmen or Senators determine how they can behave. When criminals write the laws they make their crimes legal. McConnell and Ryan knew about all of this. They are at a minimum accomplices.
Covering up the “expense” to pay for something that is not legit could be a problem for us regular folk. The IRS would be all over us for doing it.
Since it’s a congressman anything goes. Every gdamn one of them are criminals and they are using OUR money to do it.

Why hasn’t he been Arrested yet?? And some wonder why I strongly believe in Jury Nullification, if they won’t prosecute their own when the Criminal Acts are Public and Admitted, why would you vote guilty for just an average citizen accused of a non violent crime??

And I suppose if the bank depositors don’t complain about the bank robbery then it is ok. Regardless of what fund the settlement came out of, he should have to declare it as income and pay income tax, interest, penalties, FICA and Medicare tax on the money. I had to declare as income the cost oa parking space provided as a perk.
250 congressional settlements, this is one of them.
