Franken Reportedly Will Not Resign
Townhall.com ^ | November 20, 2017 | Leah Barkoukis

Despite calls from his Republican and Democratic colleagues alike to step down after allegations of sexual misconduct, Sen. Al Franken is reportedly refusing to go anywhere.

When his hometown paper The Star Tribune asked over the weekend whether he planned to resign, a spokesperson for the Minnesota Democrat said, “no.”

“He is spending time with his family in Washington, D.C., and will be through the Thanksgiving holiday,” the staffer told the paper by text, “and he’s doing a lot of reflecting.”

Sports broadcaster Leeann Tweeden accused Franken of forcibly kissing and groping her without her consent. She even tweeted a photo of the groping incident from a 2006 USO tour in Afghanistan. The then-comedian appeared grabbing her breasts over her flak vest while she was sleeping on a military aircraft.

I’ve decided it’s time to tell my story. #MeToohttps://t.co/TqTgfvzkZg— Leeann Tweeden (@LeeannTweeden) November 16, 2017

She also said while they were practicing a sketch he kissed her despite her protesting.

Franken himself and his Senate colleagues have recommended a Senate Ethics Committee investigation of his behavior.

“I understand why we need to listen to and believe women’s experiences,” Franken said in a statement. “I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate.”

Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Republican Sen. Tim Scott agreed an ethics investigation should begin.

“We certainly should start the process,” Scott said. “This is absolutely the right starting point. All sexual harassment is inexcusable. And everyone should be punished at the same level.”

Being boorish isn’t a crime.

Grabbing a woman’s breasts with photographic evidence is definitely a crime.

Thanks Kaslin.

He sez he’ll cooperate with an Ethics Investigation — shows what one of those is really for.

If Alabama were going to reject Moore — as all the partisan media shill polling sez it is — Franken’s refusal to resign will ruin the chances of that.

Losing your rights because of an accusation is unfair. I think this is true of 2nd amendment rights and property rights. But that is the case today and it should be fixed.

I also think it is unfair to lose your job because of a current accusation for deeds done a long time ago. It puts the person being accused in a indefensible position. If it recently occurred then the accused can have a fair hearing.

Sen. Al Franken is reportedly refusing to go anywhere.

WOW, I guess Moore can count on his vote not to expel when he is elected.

great post!
Let me expand on it:

Democrat Franken - Photo proof of sexual assault.
NO resignation

Democrat Menendez - currently on trial for corruption, many documented trips to pedophile island.
NO resignation

Republican Moore - Nothing but 38 year old questionable allegations from democrat operatives, and forged signatures.
Quit before you get here

That’s the latest news from Lake Dough-Be-Gone. Where the kids have above average self esteem and the politicians apologize (for getting caught).

Weird, I thought Mitch made it clear that the standard is to expel any Senators who have such “troubling” allegations levied. Could it be the standard doesn’t apply to all? Odd

He wants the Ethics Committee for 2 reasons: one, he’ll be immediately cleared by others who are just as scuzzy as he, and two, he’ll then be able to brandiithe fact that he went through the committee so everyone else has to. Of course, any Repubs will get the harshest punishment, and the dems will get their filthy -who-knows-where-it’s-been hand slapped.

I think the issue is the retirement of the double standard, which is to say that if a republican accused of this has to go, than so does a democrat.

As for Cosby and his ilk, and Hollywood eating its own, its another example of all the virtue signaling backdropped on all of this mishagas. Gays are no better either, and in some ways worse.

If this gets them out of the business of telling us how to live. I’m for it.
