I read something about Manson probably sending the followers to the Tate house because he wrongly thought a music producer he wanted revenge on still lived there. Apparently a recording deal Manson thought was in the bag got dropped by the guy. I used to think he could have sent them to rob the wealthy Tates and they did some messed up drugs on the way and ended up committing the heinous crime on their own. Though he did murder at least one man over drugs. At any rate dude was one crazy mofo. Hard to believe he had the “charisma” so many claimed.
You are correct. The home was once occupied by Terry Melcher who was the producer for the Beach Boys. He refused to produce an album for Charlie who was introduced to Melcher by Dennis Wilson.
Odd coincidence, Terry Melcher’s mom is Doris Day. Both Day (Doris Kapelhoff) and Manson were from the East side of Cincinnati (Silverton and Madisonville, respectively) and both would have attended Withrow High School (years apart) had Charlie not been a ward of the state.
Finally.
It’s hard to believe that anyone followed this lulu bastard’s demonic orders, but some people will believe anything... especially in California...
