A TV host and sports broadcaster on Thursday accused Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) of kissing and groping her without her consent in 2006.

Leeann Tweeden accused Franken of groping her, without her consent, while she was asleep and provided a photo as evidence.

Franken will claim that he wasn’t really touching her (or even touching her Kevlar vest) at all and was just joking around while she was sleeping.

Yep:

“I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann. As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn’t. I shouldn’t have done it,” his statement says.

He can try to ignore it, but judging by the reaction on social media, a non-denial denial ain’t gonna cut it.

“Intended to humiliate her?”

My guess: he took the photo to humiliate her in private, but also for the possibility of silencing her going forward through the threat of public humiliation.

I look at the photo and it's pretty obvious he was just goofing off.

What Franken did was to humiliate her in front of her peers using sexual innuendo. That is intended to cause others to take her unseriously. It wouldn't be "goofing off" if it were done to a sleeping man, hence the sexual nature of it.

It is sexual harassment in the workplace, intended to demean her and harm future opportunities if the others "in on the joke" are ever in a hiring position over her in the future.

Franken is in a safe seat. The Dims will happily toss him to the sharks. I expect he resigns today or tomorrow. The photo is just devastating.

From WaPo:

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Franken’s home state colleague, also didn’t immediately respond to inquiries. She is co-sponsor of a bill unanimously approved by the Senate last week that will mandate sexual harassment training for all senators and their staffs.

These beltway pigs and their staffs are so arrogant and sheltered they think they can get away with this. With photo evidence of a crime? He’ll have an attitude correction soon since he’s about to get Weinstein’d.

Would have been funny for her to release the story and then Al Franken deny. Then she release the photo.

I wish someone with a little integrity would have seen him do that and beat the @#$# out of him.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) said Tuesday the House has paid out $15 million in harassment settlements over more than a decade

I realize I am asking water to flow up hill when I say this but,

When they say that the House paid harassment settlements what they really mean is that the Tax Payer paid the settlements.

These assaults are not committed by the House of Representatives. They are committed by depraved individuals and should be the responsibility of those individuals.

In the real world these men would be fired after their actions came to light and cost the company money. But these men because of their position are protected from such punishment.

It should stop.
