Spain Catalonia: Barcelona rally urges prisoners release

Three quarters of a million people have rallied in Barcelona to protest against Spain's detention of Catalan independence leaders, police estimate.

They shone phone torches in unison at sunset as calls were made to free eight regional ministers and two grassroots campaign leaders being held on remand.

Some of the detainees will be included on the list of a Catalan separatist party at next month's snap election.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy is to visit the city on Sunday......

They are going the non-violent resistance route and letting the Spanish government use the force arresting and jailing people.

Lots of debt, a status worse than Puerto Rico, and the lack of an effective military. U-Haul prices would also skyrocket for outbound (from CA) trips.

India pulled that off, right?

But that was a colony, this is a little bit different. I don’t know if it will work for the Catalans.

An aside, the article calls Barcelona’s female far-left Mayor a “Mayoress”, lol. She’s interestingly against independence and wants a “third way”.
