A former US Marine who was caught urinating on the corpses of dead Taliban fighters got his conviction thrown out this week thanks to the unlawful actions of a retired general who severely and systematically interfered with the case, a report says.
Staff Sgt. Joseph W. Chamblin had been reduced in rank for the infamous 2011 incident, sentenced to 30 days confinement and ordered to pay a $500 fine after he pleaded guilty to wrongful desecration, failure to properly supervise junior Marines, and posing for photographs with battlefield casualties.
What he didnt know at the time was that the Commandment of the Marine Corps, Gen. James F. Amos, was on an illegal crusade to crush Chamblin and others who participated in the sick stunt, according to The Washington Post.
Because of his alleged meddling, the ex-scout sniper got all of his charges dropped on Wednesday and his previous ruling overturned by the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals.
The panels decision came roughly five years after Chamblins initial trial for the July 2011 incident, in which he and several other Marines killed a trio of Taliban fighters and then urinated on their bodies while posing for pictures and video. The footage surfaced on YouTube in January 2012, sparking international outrage.
Chamblin later said that he didnt felt sorry about what he did claiming he would do it again if he had the chance.
[If] anything, it was more of a psychological effect on the enemy because if an infidel touches the body, theyre not going to Mecca or paradise, he told reporters at the time. So, now these insurgents see what happens when you mess with us.

Punished more severely than Bergdahl I see. Nice.
The stupid part of the marine was getting caught. The stupid part of the general was not sticking up for one of his men. You, you're just blinded by your stupidity. There's a lesson for the marines, both enlisted and officers. No cure for you.
And Bowe Bergdahl walks free with $300k in back “ pay” for deserting and going native

When I saw the headline I thought for a second that a General had done something to proactively help this Marine. You know, something honorable.
These enlisted Marines did something they shouldn’t have. But, these Generals are too busy trying to get that big MIC job when they retire.
It’s a wonder that we haven’t had a revolution in this country.
Happy Birthday, Marine Corps.
Maybe we should drop the Admirals and hire a few lookouts for our destroyers.
Hey, all around, up and down, THIS whole story is why we are STILL in Afghanistan 16 years later....
No, it’s anti-American justice.
I remember the outrage by the left, and bammy. I remember there was no outrage when the muzzs tortured and killed human beings.
I don’t think the Marine did anything wrong... the guy filming and posting did.
Hey can I put that comment in my letter to my two sons at MCRD?
Remember the majority are patriotic. I have a friend that will be promoted to Lt. Col. in a few weeks. One of the best of the best.
He did not do anything stupid and he would do it again.
Like the old saying goes, better to be pissed off than pissed on. Good way for the Taliban not to reach Mecca if they try to kill ya in my book.
a profound truth for sure, regarding generals. Should they get into civilian life as CEO’s they will F$%K it completely up.
What would Chesty do?
He didn't do anything wrong but this is the age of the Internet and whatever you do you have to consider the possibility that what you're doing can be seen around the world within minutes.
“Maybe we should drop the Admirals and hire a few lookouts for our destroyers.”
I like the cut of your jib.
Bergdahl got less for TREASON and getting folks KILLED.
