A British tourist facing execution for taking prescription painkillers into Egypt is crammed into a tiny cell with 25 other women and a hole in the floor for a toilet.

Laura Plummer, 33, was arrested with the tramadol tablets in her suitcase after she flew into a Red Sea beach resort for a two-week break with her Egyptian husband.

She’s being held on drug trafficking charges at Hurghada 1st Police Department with “murderers, heroin addicts and prostitutes,” her family told Mirror Online.

“...for a two-week break with her Egyptian husband.”

So, what’s the rest of the story?

Sounds like the makins’ of a TV show.

It would certainly behoove people to ‘read the rule book’ before going to distant lands.

If they are ‘estranged’, he may have set her up...

Singapore executed a Vietnamese drug smuggler in 2005. I suspect they wouldn’t have executed a U.S. drug smuggler. I suspect Egypt won’t execute her, because it won’t want the problems with the U.S.

Anyone who travels internationally has seen the “death for drug traffickers” signs, complete with skull and crossbones, in airports like Singapore. Why would anyone be dumb enough to take opioids through an international airport? If this woman’s husband has a medical condition requiring prescription painkillers, he’s perfectly able to go see a doctor in Egypt and get his prescription filled at a pharmacy there - they have doctors and pharmacies in Egypt.

A hole in the floor is the toilet everywhere in Egypt.

Go there sometime if you don't think so.

Unless you are in a luxury hotel.

Where do you think the term "what a $hit hole" originated.

1. Don’t marry a muslim, nothing good can come of it.
2. Don’t travel to muslim countries, ever.

Don’t bring yourself to Egypt, it’s a garbage country full of garbage people. I went there once for my job and would take a bad annual evaluation before ever going back.

for taking prescription painkillers

Who's name was on the prescription?

How many pills did she have? 60? 600? 6,000?

And if he can’t get them there, it’s a big hint that he SHOULDN’T LIVE THERE.
