Donald Trump shuns Japanese food for American burger

Japan might be routinely hailed as one of the best places in the world for food but that has not inspired Donald Trump to deviate from his strict all-American diet, Independent reported.

There was not a trace of ramen, sushi or tempura on President Trump’s plate at a casual lunch with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Sunday.

The billionaire property developer instead relished in eating a hamburger sourced from American beef during his first trip to Japan as President.

Mr Trump chose to have his burger well-done as he has become so famed for doing with his steaks.

President Trump played golf with Mr Abe at the Kasumigaseki Country Club - alongside professional golfer Hideki Matsuyama - on his first day in the country. According to an excerpt from the book “Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J Trump”, during a trip to Japan back in 1990 Mr Trump said he would not eat "f***ing raw fish" and instead devoured a hamburger at McDonald's which cheered him up massively.

Was it the elder or the younger Bush that gagged at a state dinner in Japan? I remember video of Secret Service agents flying over tables to get to him to make sure he was okay.

There’s nothing wrong with avoiding raw fish...

And it would look bad if President Trump repeated GHW Bush’s performance in Japan.

My only outrage is that steaks and burgers should be mooing rather than cremated.

As long as he doesn’t have a George H.W. Bush gastronomic moment with the Japanese prime minister.

A burger made from ground sirloin, topped with grilled red onions, beefsteak tomato slice, and sharp cheddar cheese on Ciabatta bread and a dash of Sriracha sauce beats any cuisine out there. And I have tasted every cuisine in the world having done 25 oceanliner cruises and having traveled to 3 dozen+ countries. Going on my 26th and 27th cruises before Christmas.

I eat hamburgers all the time. When I do, I’m not “shunning” anything. It’s just the American thing to do. IMHO.

I love tempura, but there’s a reason Big Macs are popular in Japan too.

Think about it...

As we get older we know what agrees and doesn't agree with us. You are gonna play gastronomical test pilot while your away from home? I don't blame him for trying to wart off Montezuma's revenge, he has got to stay on point and attend meetings, make deals etc, not be running for the mens room.

I’d pass on seaweed and uncooked fish, too. Might take a belt or two of saki, tho.
