Far-right conspiracies had morphed the event into a fantasy world of unrealistic expectations.

One factor is pol's and other's ability to ID these hoodlums even when they are masked. The Eric Clanton incident proved that, and there have been others. I have no doubt that many rank-and-file antifa goons took note of this and chickened out.

Last night my wife and I had dinner in a hotel in coastal Virginia. There were a bunch of democrats in the lobby with Northam buttons and signs. At first, I wondered if these were antifa youth? Turns out the DNC is hosting a get out the vote rally today. Most of the license plates in the hotel garage were from out of state. They are here to make the rally look well attended in the media and, for all we know, to vote in the election on Tuesday.

The aftermath of Reagan’s elections showed the same thing happening very quickly, which is why the “big” protests against Trump were organized within a couple of weeks of his inauguration since the organizers knew that 3 months later almost no one would show up.

Memo to Newsweak, low turnout numbers tend to deflate the true actions that had been planned. I seriously doubt that if hundreds of thousands had shown up, that the non violent results seen would have remained non violent. Hundreds of thousands would have provided ample cover for them to be as violent as they have been at every other gathering they participated at. Low numbers meant they were afraid to exert violence for fear that someone might have taken them out. After all, they really are just cowards.
