(Nigel Farage at :29)

.....we saw a Declaration of Independence, a Universal Declaration of Independence from Carles Puigdemont, the Catalan president and that on the day when the Spanish senate voted to sack the entire Catalan parliament and its president and the region's autonomy and they're going to move in this week apparently and take over.

So it is a situation that is worrying potentially, what happens when police or troops or whatever it is move in and take over government buildings. Are there going to be rings of protestors outside trying to stop them? Will the police, the civil service take orders from Madrid? No one knows the answers to any of those things.

And certainly the comment I have been making about this is that this Catalonia situation is Mr. Junker's worst nightmare. And to my surprise he rather acknowledged that yesterday when he said that were some serious cracks showing in the European Union. We don't want them and we don't need them.

So I'm going to have a debate this morning with you about whether given all the things that have happened. Given the way the police behaved on the 1st of October with 900 people reportedly being injured by them as they were stopped from going to vote in what was an illegal referendum because it didn't have the sanction from the national parliament.

But, do you now feel perhaps just a little bit more sympathy with the Catalan separatists......

(at 4:01)

Well you have pointed out peaceful protest and I saw a couple of MEP's (Members of European Parliament) saying 'Look, you know we are taking the Gandhi approach, that whatever they do to us we will not respond with violence' and I saw that and thought Wow that, that really is very appealing.......

Nigel Farage on his radio show's Sunday edition yesterday laying out the fact that his European Union anti-Brexit enemies are also the enemies of Catalonian independence.

He had interviews with guests including a Catalonian separatist spokesman`, phone calls etc.

A lot of mainstream media hype over a rally of some 300-thousand for unity with Spain held in Barcelona yesterday but not mentioned the half million who took to the same streets in Barcelona the other week for independence. A majority of the legislature voted for independence on Friday in a 70-10 vote with other members abstaining or boycotting the vote.

The deposed Catalan president Carles Puigdemont went to his home town over the weekend and was greeted warmly by crowds in the streets. But now there is talk of his arrest.

Two separatist leaders are already under arrest. We have political prisoners in Catalonia and my get more in the hours ahead.

A seperate Catalonia means less globalism. I like less globalism.

The movement in Catalonia doesn’t want to pay taxes to Madrid and it also includes communists.

But that’s not the most important issue right now.

It is globalism or corporatism as I sometimes call it like Nigel does.

The big banks, big business and big government interests all working together to create power and profits at the expense of the little people and small business owners.

It will also be muslim very quickly.

And will break up part of south France.

Not saying I am for it or against it, but that this isn’t a calming thing.

The rest of Spain wil be better off then if they leave. Just like the USA would benefit politically if CA secedes. Win-win.

There are two sides to every coin.

I will defer that to any Spaniards who are on FR, as I am frankly a bit ignorant of internal Spanish politics after about 2004 or so.

I do know that Catalonia has a large muslim population that will be even larger after the exit. I had friends that spent a few years in Barcelona, and they were rather concerned that the area was going to be under muslim law sooner than later

Not to mention the fact that “Catalonia” extends into France, and I doubt the Basques will remain.

Great time to be alive for a history nerd, bad time to live through.

I doubt it “would be Muslim quickly” or that any secession would happen in the south of France because of it.

The south of France is National Front country and in the neighboring region with a heavy National Front voting population there is sympathy for the Catalan independence cause and no fear of it.
