Feds Apologize, Will Pay ‘Generous’ Settlement to Tea Party Groups for Illegal Targeting

The IRS on Thursday settled two lawsuits alleging the agency illegally targeted conservative groups under the Obama administration.

One of the settlements stipulated the IRS issue a formal apology for illegally singling out conservative and tea party groups due to their political beliefs dating back to 2013.

The other settlement, a class-action lawsuit brought by the NorCal Tea Party with 428 members, includes a “generous” multi-million dollar payout, according to a lawyer involved.

“There is no excuse for this conduct,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement. “Hundreds of organizations were affected by these actions, and they deserve an apology from the IRS.”

According to Fox News, Sessions said groups seeking tax-exempt status with names including “Tea Party” or “Patriots” were given the rigmarole “based solely on their viewpoint or ideology.”

Nobody going to get arrested?

Give it up. This is a terrific way to go. Conservative groups will be given millions of dollars just as primary season revs up. There's nothing that says the deep state traitors won't be charged as we move on.

"Nobody going to be arrested? That’s the only way to stop this BS. And will the fine be paid by the taxpayer?"

Who else? Once again... the criminal Obama regime operatives walk away with their fat government pensions and perks while the taxpayer is forced to pay for their crimes. Not exactly my definition of "draining the swamp". Lois Lerner is laughing all the way to the bank.

Lois Lerner and Koskinen aren’t the ones apologizing or paying the fines or going to jail. We lose.

Koskinen, Lerner and accomplices should be imprisoned for criminal malfeasance and abuse of power. (not to mention their boss!)

We have allowed the elected officials to assign authority to people who have no moral issue with hurting us for the political sin of thinking differently.

This is why De Tocqueville felt we would collapse as a country if we lost our moral center.

I DO notice that Hillary is awfully quiet this week. I usually see two or three headlines per page of her blathering on about how we made a mistake not electing her.

She’s getting shut down

Rush wants to know why he’s not seeing Trump twittering about Russia

Underestimation.

These people should go to jail. But this is going well

How are they going to undo Otoken’s second term? This was done to prevent those groups from raising money (by stalling/denying their applications), to pave the way (successfully) for Otoken’s re-election. How do they “make that right”?

The Obama administration, portrayed as squeaky-clean by the enemedia, was the worst attack on our democracy most of us had ever seen.

Exactly.. all the f’n committees looking into corruption to make “the American People” feel better and when they find it absolutely NOTHING happens.

I’d like to see Trump build a Federal Prison in DC next to the Capital and have the DOJ fill it but it’s corrupt as well.

It isn’t the pay we want, it is the accountability. Forget the compensation and put the arrogant Lois Learner in jail. This does us no good, it is not significant reparation for the last 4 years of Obama, and we had him sucking for cover. Our new DOJ has no guts or teeth...and they better grow both with the greatest scandal in US history moving to the front burner.

There was enough illegal activity in Obama’s IRS to necessitate paying billions of dollars of government money to those who were wronged. But supposedly that is not enough to bring charges against any of the people responsible.

The GOPe was never interested in doing anything about the IRS abuse because the Tea Party upset their applecart. Thus, the McConnell gang was content with Obama’s second term, if that’s what it took to put the Tea Party in its place.

This is merely a settlement with the Government stipulating the government was wrong. Thus far I have seen nothing to limit any liability of those individuals who broke the law from being sued.

I would bet there is an army of civil case lawyers, not to imply that lawyers are civil, setting with eager anticipation for the Judge to make a final ruling on the settlements from the government. How many of us will be praying to be picked for one of those juries?

Specific in the settlement statement is that it called out Lois Lerner for wrongdoing in addition to the Commissioner who just got his Trumpian departure notice.

Settlement? They tried to rig another election and won on this count by stifling any counter arguments from the tea party. I think the 2012 election should be over turned and although he was not running, add those years onto Trump’s current term. Meanwhile, find those responsible, use enhanced interrogation if necessary, and then send the guilty to the gallows.

Perhaps they are holding some of the more salient/slimy information for the tax reform fight......snipers do a good job from long distance - a heated battle requires lots more ammo for the up close down and dirty....got my fingers crossed.

undo some of the communist-inspired damage to the Nation done by FDR

Can you recommend a resource where I might read about this? Thanks.
