Strauss aligned with Democrats to take over the House leadership when the Republicans in Texas are in the majority.

It was close, so Strauss cut a deal to give key leadership positions to Democrats in return for him being speaker.

Texans can correct me on details I have missed.

That nasty combination has ruled the Texas House for the last two or three sessions.

Rep. Charlie Geren is the last of Straus’s twelve disciples still in the House.

Thank God. This Democrat in RINO clothing managed to keep his position as Speaker for years because Texas legislators aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Dan Patrick had a lot to do with it and the change to whoever is to replacement will most certainly be significantly left of Strauss.

Was he worse than Bush and/or McCain?

He was more like Arlen Spectre than Bush or McCain.

PAC formed specifically to oust Straus may have been the torchlight that Straus fled from. Weasels like him prefer the cover of darkness.

Long history of stopping worthwhile legislation. He was the WORST element in Austin. I never understood how he gained and held power so long without being exposed for his treachery.

He was/is THE WORST.
