Cops cut NFL security in protest of national anthem kneeling at Miami Dolphins game
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/22/17 | Steven Nelson

Florida police officers upset by NFL players kneeling during the national anthem responded by reducing the amount of security Sunday at a Miami Dolphins game.

The number of off-duty officers working the event was about a third less than usual, Dade County Police Benevolent Association President John Rivera told the Miami Herald.

Rather than 400 officers, just 270 were expected to help maintain order as the New York Jets played the home team.

As of Friday, only 175 officers had volunteered to work the game, requiring some officers to be forced into working. Those who worked will be paid overtime.

"This whole movement started against police officers," Rivera told CBS News. "And now it's morphed into disrespecting the flag and the country."

Officers elsewhere in the country have pushed back on players' kneeling protests against police brutality, which began with former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick kneeling in 2016, before President Trump triggered more widespread protests in September by calling on NFL owners to fire any "son of a bitch" who didn't stand for the national anthem.

Last month, Cleveland police officers refused to hold the American flag during pregame ceremonies due to the controversy.

Rivera said the Florida police opt-out would result in "the minimal amount" of security, "where they feel safe, but I don't think they're going to have the ideal amount."

The kids of those days thought anything might be possible. The creative output of musicans during that period, those that made it and those that didn’t cvan not be measured. There was strife, war and riots, but through it all, there was hope.

I used to go to a website that had albums by unknown, mostly regional bands, like FOOD from the Chicago area. There were hundreds if not thousands of others. Unfortuantely google caught up with the blogger and shut him down. I did download several of those albums that really haven’t seen the light of day since they were released. Everyone was trying to make it...

Good.

Reduce security AND charge a thousand bucks an hour per person for the security that is provided. That’s push back...

This is saying officers can be forced into working the details. How can they be forced into working extra details when the kneelers can’t be force to respect the flag while they’re at work? This defies logic.

Some music today is vulgar. Mostly the whole “rap” category. However, some of it isn’t bad. There are a few rap artists that don’t spout garbage.

A lot of the indie scene music is really good. Take a look at “Built to Spill” for example. There’s tons of great mainstream music out there. But for some reason the pop categories seem to dominate in the media. But there’s tons and tons of great music out there.

I noticed they didn't do many fan closeups. Reason? I think they didn't want to emphasize the empty seats.

George Soros is just loving all this.

I'm not sure about the actual number of on duty COPS but my understanding is they are hired by the NFL and working technically off duty as security guards, essentially.

Someone with more knowledge of this please chime in. Thanks.

Two points:

1. Finally, last week, the LOCAL Miami media acknowledged this fact. But it was spun in a perverted way: the media made it look like the ONLY person upset was the union President John Rivera. He alone was painted as the angry man.

2. From the looks of photos on twitter, not many cops were needed. The Dolphins v Jets game, often PACKED because of all the New Yorkers in south Florida, didn’t appear to be well attended.

Once word gets out that your personal safety is at significantly greater risk when attending NFL games......that will certainly boost attendance. (sarc/)

You’re right, of course, that’s true of the original protests. But it’s morphed into a middle finger that encompasses the rest IMO.

Baseball is immune to this kneeling crap because the percentage of American blacks in the majors is down from what it used to be. They have no critical mass

Foreign/Hispanic blacks having rising numbers in MLB

So if you own an MLB franchise you are looking better than NFL owners. Plus factor in concussions for the NFL and it will be going more black than it is now. White parents are keeping their boys out of football.

Hire BLM or Antifa to handle NFL security. That’s what many players and owners seem to prefer.

Were I the POTUS, I’d make a call to the Pentagon with instructions that no military are to participate in the NFL’s November Veteran’s Day events: No flyovers, no Golden Knights, no flag ceremonies, no presentation of the colors....

As Commander-In-Chief he can order all active duty members to not wear uniforms when attending any NFL events. He can even issue an off-limits boundary order to all NFL stadiums to all active duty.

And I'll post this here, too, because of what's said about LE in the article...

They did it on foreign soil. Again.

Why we're protesting during the US national anthem at American Football games
