I’m pretty sure you can’t depend on what you see of the stands on a televised game. I was visiting a friend who had a Kansas City Chiefs home game on television a week or so ago. Well into the game, they showed a picture of the stands on the sunny side of the field. Most seats appeared empty. Later, they showed another shot of the same area of seating, and there seemed to be people in the seats, but they kept phasing in and out, like the “fans” were added electronically.

The bye weeks begin in week 5. There were two fewer games in weeks 5 and 6.

That’s still 93% from the first game listed. From the photos it looks like it should be much lower.

You’re right. It’s only a difference of 71,401 fans. Even if the drop off were localized to a handful of teams, it would seem that the number should be higher.
