WashPost Columnist: Trump Has Beaten the Liberal Media
newsbusters.org ^ | Jeffrey Lord

Posted on 10/22/2017 6:04:20 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

The Washington Post’s Philip Bump (full disclosure my former CNN colleague) is one of the first -- or maybe so far the only -- journalist at a mainstream media outlet to get what is seriously disquieting news for the mainstreamers. Here’s Phil’s headline:

Trump’s already largely won his war against the media
Phil begins his story this way:
The choice that President Trump asks America to make is a simple one and one that he’s demanded since he jumped into the presidential race. Who are you going to believe, he asks: An industry of people whose jobs depend on presenting factually accurate information about what’s happening in the world — or me?

And from the outset, we’ve seen how his supporters answer that question. They believe him.

Well, okay. Phil has something here but right off the bat he illustrates exactly -- and I do mean exactly -- the media’s problem.

Notice the way he describes the media? Like this: “An industry of people whose jobs depend on presenting factually accurate information about what’s happening in the world…”

Not to put too fine a point on this, but the exact reason for the media’s problem is precisely because millions of Americans believe the mainstream media (that would include, ahem, Phil’s own Washington Post) is not reporting“factually accurate information about what’s happening in the world..”

To the contrary, in two back-to-back presidencies -- the first of a far-left liberal Democratic Party president and the second of a populist/conservative Republican Party president -- the flat-out ideological bias of the mainstream media coverage was and is vividly in play. Which in turn has provided Trump with the easy pickings of low-hanging media bias fruit.

The problem with the media is they believe their own BS. Never believe your own BS.

Nicely phrased. Do they teach this in journalism school these days?

Sharyl Attkisson even tried it at CBS.

That's the problem: their job DOESN'T depend on factual accuracy at all.

The media is WILDLY partisan. Way, way, way to one side.

Trump nailed it.

By any objective criteria, the MSM has been inherently and openly hostile to Trump and were openly biased in favor of Hillary Clinton and Democrats. No rational person, whatever their politics, can view them as “independent journalists”. However history has shown that the persistent barrage of unopposed propaganda does have an effect on the masses. It has been messy at times, but it is very important for Trump to fight back and periodically go on the offensive against theses biased organizations.

The key thing here is that Donald Trump fought back. Yet I still see Freepers here constantly saying that Trump needs to "tone it down" and be above it all - be more "presidential."

This approach is exactly what turned George W. Bush into a national laughingstock and ruined his presidency (same as his father). Amazingly, little brother Jeb doubled down on the "nice guy" approach during his cringe-worthy presidential run and got utterly destroyed.

Mitt Romney and John McCain took the same "high road" approach against Obama during their campaigns and they got clobbered as well. The Democrats play for keeps and if Republicans are going to be patsies, they will lose every time.

Even more sadly, you have the Bushes, Romney and McCain still licking the boots of the Democrats that mastered them. They are all in full Patty Hearst Stockholm Syndrome mode.

Donald Trump took a combative take-no-prisoners approach and not only did he win but he's still winning.

“An industry of people whose jobs depend on presenting factually accurate information about what’s happening in the world.”

Does Bump actually believe that, or does he know the deceit of it? Either way, he demonstrates he either doesn’t know or doesn’t want the truth.

So many truths are intolerable to proggies.

You have to admit there is usually a grain of truth in what the media reports.

The media has been hunting for a scandal on Trump ... they dug up the wrong tree ...

They’ve got a ready made one now... right under their biased noses ... with hillary and obama... and all who participated with those 2 corrupt individuals.

Surely, they will jump right on it with the same enthusiasm they did with Trump. (*sarcasm alert*)

So, this reporter gets the factual information wrong in the second sentence of his article.

In fact, according to what James O’Keefe and Project Veritas have recorded, the jobs of the so-called “news media” depend on them being political hacks.

I wish this article had linked to the Project Veritas stuff.

Somebody should ask him if he’s seen the Project Veritas exposes, or read any of Podesta’s emails. And if not, why not.

They really believe that.

Let's see what the journalism schools themselves say they are teaching students:

http://coursecatalog.syr.edu/content.php?catoid=12&navoid=1593

Look at item 12:

Learn to value, embrace and support diversity in society and the media.

Does that sound "objective" and "value free"?

Let's try the University of Florida Journalism School:

https://www.jou.ufl.edu/home/about/mission-statement/

•Establish CJC as a Leader in the Recruitment, Retention, and Placement of Multicultural Faculty, Staff, and Students

Does this sound like a neutral bias free goal?:

Invest in Communication Research, Curriculum, and Practice Focused on Advancing Human Values, Improving Quality of Life, and Sharing Knowledge for a Diverse Society

They don't even try to hide it any more.

(I picked these two out at random--check out other ones--lefty, lefty, lefty, lefty....virtually all of them---no wonder only one major newspaper out of the top one hundred endorsed Trump in 2016)

Mainstream journalism can't be fixed--it needs to de-funded and marginalized.

There’s a needle in the haystack, too.

To quote Dave Burge at Iowahawkblog “Journalism is about covering important stories. With a pillow, until they stop moving.”

Simply put-—if Hillary and Obama spelled their last names with the letter (R) the ONLY subject being covered by the “drive-by” media would be the corruption of the (R) world.
24/7 on every channel, not just the cable group. Every radio station. Every newspaper page printed with ads removed to make room for the latest “SCOOP”.
Amazing the difference one little letter (R) can make.
