What happened to baseball national anthem?
10/21/17 | kingcanuteus

I watched the pregame and beginning of the Yankees Astros game on TV last night and didn't see the national anthem. Was it actually performed or did the network (or the Astros) decide not to televise it?

As for me, until I see it performed, a radio broadcast is good enough for me.

Star Spangled Banner?
Didn't you get the memo? Old dead white guys, and privilege and all that.

I see you are just looking for a reason to b*tch when there is none.

Other than one rookie idiot, one time, there has been no disrespecting the flag at any MLB game. If there was you can bet dollars to donuts it would be reported.

It was reported and more are doing it; and no, I’m not looking to b*tch I’m just being observant and watching what’s happening in sports and it’s not only Fball and Bball but other venues. I see you are being over sensitive.

FWIW, for me the National Anthem, the halftime shows, 7th inning stretches were a big part of why I enjoyed the games. I could give a dang about what talking heads think about anything, incessant commercial breaks, timeouts...

Enjoy the games? I haven’t for years.

They’ve rarely broadcast the anthem on football or baseball games for years. That’s one reason it was so interesting that suddenly people (media) started paying attention because of the hairy colon.

Seems I recall it also being shown at the All Star Game?

Wrong one guy one time

Baseball great Gary Sheffield says MLB's 'soldier-like' atmosphere prevents players from protesting the national anthem

Baseball players also know that they’ll have face pitchers who throw a ball at over 100 MPH.

Most MLB tv games for well over a year have not shown the playing of our national anthem on tv.

A couple of years a local excellent guitar player and vocalist was selected to play and sing the National Anthem at a Giant’s game. We congratulated him and told him we would be watching him perform at AT&T park.

He told us that the local NBC sports tv channel that carried the Giants would not show it. He was right.

The only time they have shown the singing and playing of our national anthem has been when the Grateful Dead or a similar high power group performed.

Let’s see what the networks do in the World Series. I think not showing GBA is more telling. I wonder how many of the left wing nuts in television realize baseball has been playing The Star Sangled Banner since before it was our national anthem. In fact basebalall is largely responsible for the Star Spangled Banner being adopted as our anthem.

Okay, thanks for that. Not a Bball fan I don’t watch games (neither does the family) so I just read what’s happening with the current ‘activism’.

“Seems I recall it also being shown at the All Star Game?”

You are correct. I should have stated the World Series and special occasions such as the All Star Game.

” I think not showing GBA is more telling.”

“God Bless America being sung in the 7th inning is a fairly new “tradition.” It started after 911, but before that, you never heard it.

Honestly, I never liked the song. I won’t miss it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the anthem on tv at a baseball game except for the World Series. There’s no conspiracy here.

Have you forgotten?

An American football team knelt for our anthem, and stood for Great Britain’s ...

A country we fought The Revolutionary War with and who introduced slavery to the new world.

I am a deplorable but the NFL actions were despicable.
