GOP Sen. Thad Cochran still out sick with UTI, threatening key tax-related vote this week

Mississippi Republican Sen. Thad Cochran remains ill and won't return to his Senate duties Monday as was expected, his office announced.

The 79-year-old's absence raises doubts about the ability of GOP leaders to pass a key budget resolution -- a vote is planned later this week -- that is needed to advance tax reform, a top legislative priority for Republicans and President Donald Trump.

I’m not convinced that this is not a “Ferris Buehler” type of illness designed as yet another excuse for why an adequate number of votes can’t be cobbled together to advance Trump’s agenda.

I wish him well, however, we could have big changes in the senate, w/ Thad, McCain, & Menendez. What is Mitch going to do about it is is the question....

Never should have been submitted for election in the first place. Thank Haley Barbour, Mitch McConnell and the GOPe for mounting a campaign against McDaniels literally buying democrats to vote in that runoff.

A pox on all their houses.

Wheel the old coot into the Senate, let him vote, and wheel him back home. How hard is THAT?

senators should have to watch and vote from home or hospital bed if sick or injured that they are unable to show up in person. If they are unable to watch from home or hospital bed, there should be other rules in place, but almost constantly having senators out is no way to run a country’s senate.

Given the state of technology today, a UTI will keep old Thad from supporting DJT with a vote? Can’t he vote by phone? Perhaps Mitch can install a big red vote button next to his bed? Are we to believe, given the health and mental state of these octogenarian Senators, they have to be physically present in DeeCee to cast a vote?

A UTI for someone with an already weakened immune system can turn into Congestive Heart Failure {reversible if infection is cured} and pneumonia pretty fast.

States need to pass an equivalent of the 25th amendment to shift powers over to a predesignated temporary senator or house member when health or other issues come up.

Thank you Boss Hogg Barbour. We could have had a real conservative if it would not have been for Barbour paying Democrats to vote for this old GOPe fossil in the ‘’REPUBLICAN ‘’ runoffs. Which was by the way illegal as hell because they had already voted in the Democrat primary, but was overlooked by the good ole boys. They literally stole the election from us, if you subtract all of the illegal Democrat votes for Cochran McDaniel got the majority of Republicsn votes in the runoff. He also got the majority in the primary and still lost. Yes thanks Boss Hogg. Talk about massive voter fraud. I can’t think of one positive thing Cochran has done for conservatism in the 40 years he has been in the swamp.
