Air Force punishes colonel over marriage views

U.S. Air Force officials have suspended a decorated officer and revoked his recommendation for promotion to brigadier general because he would not sign an unofficial document affirming a retiring subordinate's same-sex marriage. Col. Leland B.H. Bohannon, Air Force Inspection Agency commander at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M., signed all the requisite documents for a senior noncommissioned service member's May retirement ceremony except for one: a letter of "spousal appreciation" for the gay serviceman's partner.

Bohannon's Christian convictions about marriage put him at odds with the request to sign the unofficial, optional letter, and he sought counsel from his chaplain and judge advocate general. While awaiting guidance, and with the retirement ceremony days away, Bohannon asked a two-star general who did not object to sign the document instead.

But the retiring serviceman filed a complaint, alleging Bohannon discriminated against him based on his sexual orientation. An investigation substantiated the claim and found Bohannon guilty of unlawful discrimination, according to attorneys with First Liberty.

The gay guy got a signature from a two-star and is still bitching?

Agenda is the thing...

The Obamites are still in control.

And we will be MADE to care. By force.

The commie libs underestimate the amount of smoldering anger out there they are generating by all this cultural subversion by force. The backlash is going to be huge.

I have really hoped that Mattis would put an end to this crap. I guess the rot has gotten too deep.

This does not bode well. It tells you where the priorities are.

The document was on the level of a greeting card. For this the Bird Colonel loses promo to One Star.

Looks like he has a case. And by the time this arrives at the SCOTUS level, there will be two more Trump judges.

Just wait! Mattis will say something very dramatic and meme-worthy! (of course, he wont actually DO anything)

Mattis has been the biggest disappointment of the Trump administration, IMHO. I know there is a monumental amount of work to be done, much of it behind the scenes, but as of yet the military doesn't seem significantly more focused on effectiveness and less focused on left-wing politics than it did under Obama -- this incident being case in point.

I don't quite understand how not signing an unofficial, purely ceremonial and utterly trivial item can be unlawful? As there is no requirement or obligation involved at all, how can the officer in question be charged for refusing to sign? If it was merely the fact that it became known that his signature wasn't on the card because the guy was gay, just imagine the precedent that sets -- he didn't sign the greeting card because I'm gay. He also didn't smile at me in the hallway the other day, must also be because I'm gay. Let's get him up on charges for that too.

But the retiring serviceman filed a complaint, alleging Bohannon discriminated against him based on his sexual orientation.

And you are denying him his first amendment rights and his right to religious freedom which is protected under the Constitution, unlike your sexual orientation which is not. Deal with it like a man, and realize that not everyone sanctions your sexual preference. Tolerate yes, sanction no. In fact you should be grateful for that.

Until those in positions doing this and higher that tolerate it just get a sword up the bungie or a rifle found from part way up the bungie, then this will continue to happen.

The Gaystapo swishes into action again. Just five years ago, the Sodomite NCO would have been booted out of the service.

This is a total outrage. God is not honored in the United States Military. Woe to our country.
