Israel OKs housing for Jewish neighborhood in mostly Palestinian Hebron

JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli planning committee approved the construction of an apartment complex in a Jewish neighborhood of Hebron, a mostly Palestinian West Bank city that has been the flashpoint in attacks against Jews.

The approval on Monday by the Civil Administration’s Subcommittee for Licensing is the first for new Jewish housing in the city since 2002.

In Hebron, some 500 Jews live among 40,000 Palestinians. The building will be constructed in the Beit Romano neighborhood, one of four Jewish neighborhoods in the city.

Hebron’s Palestinian municipality is expected to appeal the decision and claim ownership of the land.

Peace Now claims the property was under Jewish ownership prior to 1948 and that after 1967, the Civil Administration leased the land to the Hebron Palestinian Municipality and it remained under protected tenancy. The liberal NGO argues that should continue, even thought it was taken from the municipality in the 1980s to establish an Israeli military base.

Now that there is no longer a base on the land, the group says, it should revert to the municipality.

The subcommittee, a Defense Ministry panel that oversees construction activity in the West Bank, is set to approve hundreds more housing units throughout the West Bank during its meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hebron has seen a number of attacks on Jewish Israelis, most recently a rash of stabbing attempts by Palestinian teens last month and some car rammings.

Funny, Jews live there for a couple millennia. Arabs kill the Jews, drive the not dead out in 1929. Some come back in a couple years, more move back later, but they're driven out again in 1948 by the Arabs. In 1967, after failing to drive the remaining Jews in the region into the sea, the Jews don't drive out the Arabs. And many of the formerly Jewish owned properties are leased to Arabs. Leasing to Arabs is, of course eternal, so when the owners decide to reoccupy or sell their property, horrors. That can't be allowed to stand. Once part of the Umma, always. Take that, Marseille, Spain, Vatican, et al. Dearborn too.

Wow. Is that comparable to a white family living in East St Louis?

To whom? Certainly not those they consider apes, pigs and dogs.

IMHO, Israel should throw out the whole lot on the West Bank and turn them over to their Jordanian brethren.

Problem is, Jordan doesn't want that riff-raff either. So just kill all who physically resist.

Sooner or later, Joshua again.

Hebron is home to the 2nd holiest site in Judaism...the Tomb of the Patriarchs, where Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah are buried. It should have long ago been annexed to Israel, and Arabs expelled.

Damn, the POTUS is not going to be happy about this.

Oh wait, this isn't 2014.

No. I don’t believe any whites currently live in E. St Louis. For the Jews, this would be worse.

My G-D! The JTA ?!

HeVron has so few Jews because the Arabs MASSACRED all of those Jews who lived there in 1929.

And there’s a reason whites don’t live in East St Louis.

I wondered if the 500 Israelis living among 40,000 Palestinians have the existentialist worry that whites in East St Louis would.

Hebron was Jewish until the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem incited bloody riots there in 1929. Israelis should go in and exact an equally fearful toll on Muslims but that wouldn’t be PC now would it?

Sick of Muslims!

I used to work in E. St Louis. Up till 3 yrs. ago, the agreement with the people was that I was always out by 3pm, and if someone screws up the last or any payment, I’m out. Some good people over there. I knew I had to worry about the gang bangers later in the day till morning. A white guy in a work truck was no big deal during the day (Till Ferguson).

Palestinians will randomly attack and kill a Jewish man, woman or child at any time. Try living with that. I don’t trust them over hear either and am cautious when I have my wife and children out in certain environments. I and my wife always carry.

Perhaps they should only allow Hebrews to live in Hebron, and send the Arabs to Arabia... just sayin...

It’s not a perfect analogy. In fact, I’m sorry I ever posted on this thread.

No analogy is perfect.

As a New Yorker, I rather enjoy watching the people, who bemoaned "White Flight" rail against "gentrification" as Whites and Asians move in.
