CBS earnings to disappoint due to weak NFL ratings, Credit Suisse says

Declining NFL television ratings will lower CBS earnings, according to Credit Suisse.

The firm cut its third-quarter EPS estimates by 5 percent, citing CBS' softer Sunday NFL ratings. The media company reports on Nov. 2.

"We expect third-quarter network advertising to decline 3 percent (previously +1 percent), driven by soft ratings for both the summer schedule and for the start of the NFL season," wrote Credit Suisse analyst Omar Sheikh. "With only one of the three content licensing deals we expected for the second half announced in third quarter, we also expect content licensing revenue growth to be skewed to the fourth quarter."

The NFL chooses to ignore us, and they cannot "unring" that bell. We American patriots seem to have astonishingly long memories.

I was in a parking lot in Jacksonville a few miles from the stadium when a plane with this message flew over. When I duckduckgo searched (screw GOOGLE), I see there were several stories about the plane.

I have a sister/brother in law who have had season tickets to JAGS since they started in the 90's. Even they called the JAGS office and told them that they were dropping their tickets next season. I won't go to an NFL game even when I am offered free tickets. The drunks and the NFL take a knee traitors all get on my nerves......

I bet they'll get tired of losing long before we get tired of winning.

I will not return to the NFL. They will have to do a complete turn around and that is not going to happen.

I wonder what could have caused the slight drop in NFL ratings. It’s not the Olympics, the election, or the hurricane any more. I’m clueless.

Yes. So many other ways to spend a nice Sunday afternoon, rather than sitting stupidly in front of the boob tube.

The nitworks invlved should sue the NFL for pissing all over their fiduciary responsibilities, for breach of contract, and for fraud. And the organizers of the "protests" -- especially those running the player unions -- should be prosecuted under the RICO Act. Thanks advance_copy.

Yep - and they pay big bucks for exclusive airing privileges ....that should help dry up another revenue input to the NFL.

They hired a lot of thugs and got thug behavior.

Not a surprise it would seem.

I remember one; amazing ball return on kickoff for touchdowns - gets involved in grand theft auto. Brilliant.
