FULL TITLE: ‘Frankly disgusting’: Trump lashes out at press, threatens NBC over news report he calls ‘pure fiction’

President Trump on Wednesday threatened NBC over a news report he called "pure fiction," and he lashed out at the news media, declaring that it is "frankly disgusting the press is able to write whatever it wants to write."

“People should look into it.... The press should speak more honestly," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "I’ve seen tremendously dishonest press. It’s not even a question of distortion.”

The president was reacting to a report that he pushed senior aides for a major expansion of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. Earlier in the day, Trump on Twitter dismissed that report as “pure fiction” and raised the possibility that he would support stripping the broadcast licenses of news networks that report what he believes to be inaccurate information.

"I know the capability that we have; believe me, and it is awesome, it is massive, and when they make up stories like that that’s just made up," Trump said in the Oval. “They have their sources that don’t exist; in my opinion they don’t exist. They make up the sources.”

"[Trump] would support stripping the broadcast licenses of news networks that report what he believes to be inaccurate information."

That should have been in Trump's Contract with the American Voter." He could have beaten Traitorhillary by even more electoral votes.

NBC have its license “temporarily” suspended while they are being investigated.
Should take about as long as the Russian investigation.

Not exactly related, but he should also cut funding for PBS and kill NPR. Just because.

Well, this is the same network that spiked the Weinstein story...

Note to NBC’s affiliates: Y’all need yer heads examined.

Kinda like CBS this morning saying Trump challenges Tillerson to IQ test - he never did in context. They’re full of hate.

I’d like to see Gayle King take an IQ test and NorDUH, combined they wouldn’t equal Trump.

NBC is owned by Comcast/Xfinity, who operates cable systems in the same towns that NBC has O&Os

“They have their sources that don’t exist; in my opinion they don’t exist. They make up the sources.”

Probably untrue.

They "created" the untraceable sources.

To wit, NBC may or may not have hired two transgenders on anti-psychotic drugs to fax them "stories" on a daily basis.

Lashing out at the press didn’t work for Nixon because everyone trusted the press. The press has abysmal trust from the public, so we’re on Trump’s side when he slams them.

And what is it with NBC spiking the Weinstein story? That is the kind of red meat that the press WANTS. Unless, of course, it violates their agenda...

The only caveat I would have is that something like that starts skating awfully close to the edge of interfering with freedom of the press. For that reason, I think regulation is the wrong approach. Anything that hides under a rock shouldn’t be forced to stay underneath that rock. Instead, it should be dragged out into the light of day, kicking and screaming, for all the world to stare at, and to mock.

Suspending a license because you disagree with the content sounds more like something a liberal university would do.

Absolutely. I've never seen PBS support a conservative cause, while they vehemently push liberal leftist garbage over the air using taxpayer funding.

interfering with freedom of the press

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms shall not be infringed.

The Liberals just LOVE to infringe the Second Amendment.
Interfering with freedom of the press? What makes the First Amendment so special? If the Press decides that some things simply cannot be touched, then make -- MAKE THEM -- support repeal of all gun laws, starting with the 1934 NFA.

I agree, however Suspending their License for Refusing to inform the Public about a Serial Sexual Predator. in which their silence and complicity alone accounted for Dozens of Women being Molested, Assaulted, Or Raped is Perfectly Acceptable.

I’m not making the claim that the first is more important than the second.
I think they are equally important, and equally deserving of protection.
