A total POS responding to the revenue losses without regard for what the Anthem represents.
Don’t patronize those that piss on the Flag, Military, LEOs, and ultimately the Citizens.
The media reported a Trump statement taking credit for the suggestion that Pence walk out.
Was there one?
Note he did not say “or be suspended or fired”. This is more BS misdirection.
These few remaining players will become total pariahs—distractions to their teams—and when their contracts are up, they won't be re-signed by anyone, because any team that did sign them would face counter-protests, boycotts, and the loss of fans and money which they represent.
The President and his supporters have won a yuge victory on this issue. They triumphed bigly.
I'm glad that the NFL fans and players could have this little "talk".
It's gratifying to see that the players are well on the way towards getting their heads straight.
Perhaps next time they should remember that "the customer is always right".
Now, NFL players: "why don't you put a little ice on that" and do your job—entertaining us—for which you are very well compensated.
The NFL got squashed like an insect in this particular battle of the Culture War...
ScrewYouNFL dot com! Can’t put what I really want too put.
F#@KYouNFL dot com. I guess I can do it. lol just had to improvise.
Too little too late Goodell, ya punk.
You missed your chance. Now events are out of your control because you were f***ing stupid.
“Stand for the flag.” What a generic term. No mention of show respect for the country that allows them to become extremely wealthy simply because they were blessed with a certain skill set. No mention of honoring all the men and women who have kept, and keep this country this way. Including cops. Apparently Goodell really thinks Americans aren’t smart enough to see through his little tantrum. This is like a petulant child who does a sloppy job when told to do something he/she doesn’t like.
One primary observation is that they think THEY are the company. One does not work unless they say so. The business does not operate unless they say so. And so on.
This too is so obvious in the player's response to the protests.
As with non-sports private sector unions, neither the NFL or industrial unions put up any capital, carry any financial risk of owning the business, nor manage the day to day.
There is a contract to play - or work. If that is done, they are paid. That's the deal. No less, no more. Contract is fulfilled. On to the next day.
Yes, they run the risk of injury and, statistically, have short careers. But let's look at their payment and their career.
A base salary for 2 years totals about $1M. (that's assuming they are not "stars" who have bigger salaries and signing bonuses). Add to that, most of their college education and other expenses have been paid for. Add another $200 to $300K for that.
Name me one other 25 or so year old, 2 years out of college with a base college degree, who has done so well.
And both the NFL player and student have 40 more years left to work, using their undergrad degree. One with piles of student loans, the NFL player with none
Yup. Sounds like slavery to me.
You hire an accountant to do your taxes. Instead of doing your taxes, he gets involved in a long political debate in a pub, at the end of which he gets most of the pub-goers to agree with him. However, he's blown through multiple tax deadlines, and your taxes remain unfiled.
Rove's political instincts aren't particularly sharp - his stock-in-trade was GOTV efforts. But it's not his political instincts at work here - it's his understanding that Trump needs to deliver on Obamacare, the wall and standing strong on deporting Dreamers (whatever his daughter says) or end up a one-term president. In the end, you still want your taxes filed, even if your accountant is politically-aligned with you and says all the right things re the issues of the day.
Corporations understand one thing: $$
Note he did not say “without raised fists or locked arms”.
ESAD Goodell
None of the locking arms disrespect either. Hands over hearts or you’re out.
I’d be without an accountant rather than have that guy.
Your thoughts are reasoned.
I do question if we will honestly turn the nation over to someone else, knowing who is out there waiting.
I don’t see one person I want out there right now.
Not one.
If he would phrase it that way, it might just sink in.
How about an apology to your customers, a-wipe?!
