A campaign billboard for a Raleigh city council candidate was spray painted with racist graffiti sometime Thursday night or Friday morning.
A billboard for Zainab Baloch had the words “SAND N*****” and “TRUMP” with what also appeared to an attempt at a swastika painted on one side.
The billboard is located in front of land being cleared for mosque on Louisburg Road just south of Interstate 540.
Baloch said she is hurt by the incident but going to use this as a platform for discussion.
“It was just emotional. It was disheartening. It hurt, especially because we’ve been working so hard on this campaign,” Baloch said.
Some of Baloch’s friend’s noticed the graffiti while driving on Louisburg Road and notified her. Wake County deputies are investigating and said no one witnessed the vandalism. No surveillance cameras appear to be in the area, deputies said.
“It’s not just me,” Baloch said. “This is on my face, I’m Muslim but the words used are derogatory towards African Americans, towards Jews. There’s a neo-Nazi symbol there, this isn’t just a Muslim issue. This is where our country’s political climate is right now.”

I went to school there, worked at RTP, and I know the people well...very high tech, many, many internationals, and any inkling of kkk or others would be so far from this area it wouldn’t be worth their efforts...and, nor would they even know she is running...that said, there in no way would there be enough support to elect an Arab, hence my belief is like yours...desperation sympathy vote.

Someone needs to send this clown to a 4th grade grammar class so that he learn that the possessive form “friend’s” is not the same as the plural “friends”.

Honestly, I’m not sure which is the correct way for that either. I think the lines go out and turn right. (I looked it up, and that’s correct.) What was interesting to me is one of the lines was curved. I think we all know that isn’t correct.
When writing about it, I had to look up the proper spelling of swastika also.
The point is, if the person that posted that graffiti was a real racist, they’d know the proper form.
Someone was trying to make the to look like a racist did it.
