Now President Trump's ex-White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon is eyeing every Republican senator up for re-election next year, positioning candidates in each race save one, the seat belonging to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
Bannon's main aim is to elect enough pro-Trump GOP senators to oust Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who he's largely blamed for the president's early stumbles with Congress, casting the Kentuckian as an elitist looking down at Trump's working class base.
'Mitch McConnell and this permanent political class is the most corrupt and incompetent group of individuals in this country,' Bannon said at a recent rally for Roy Moore, the GOP Senate candidate who won a run-off primary against Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala., last month.

No surprise, Cruz is Mercers boy.
You misunderstood me. I meant his senate win in 2012.
Well, you were discussing the presidential election, and didn't specifically mention Ted's Senate race, so...
That’s the thing about a forum versus talking face-to-face. I assumed you knew what I meant but in the context here I see how you took it as being about the primaries.
And regarding dividing resources, that might need some further thought for States that have open primaries that crossover Democrats might affect.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but for me, it was, is, and still will be, the eligibility issue. Not gonna happen and I'll fight it to my last breath. I'll not say any more about it, just stated my intransigence.
One of the reasons Trump won the primary is because Cruz has the personality of a potato.
Aww doggone-it, you made me laugh and I have stitches in my lip...I am not supposed to do that for a few days...eh worth it LOL ;)
That ship sailed on January 20, 2009.
Is Bannon the bravest or what? I’m in love.
Don’t know but I can say Mike Lee is the best man in the Senate proving Utah can offer some excellent choices.
Look up the word intransigence.
Bannon, along with his supporters, should, also, create a PAC that helps conservatives, at each and every political level, challenge RINO Republicans, at each and every political level.
I can see many on this thread are starting to re-fight the GOP primary battles, but this makes sense to me as Trump now can mostly count on Cruzs support for his agenda - particularly on the major issues like the wall, immigration and taxes - while as for the others up in 2018, not so much.
GOP, you taunted then ignored the Tea Party at your peril. You wrote the check, now receive the order.
Good, we did to drain the swamp...
Couple years ago folks gave Carl Rove 100+ million dollars to get “pubbies” elected. He did terribly and none of those the GOPer he backed got elected.
I’d bet thefarm Bannon fares mucho better.
Personally endorsed rubber stampers are great for the republic. Can’t wait.
>>>>> Well as a party we stay neutral in primaries, which is helpful because then we can bring the divided factions together toward the overall purpose of winning the election in the general,’ Romney McDaniel answered when asked about Bannon’s plans. <<<<<
Whaaaaa? They werent neutral in Alabama or Mississippi (last time). Why put that crap out there?
Practicing the mental gymnastic?
As far as I know, Cruz has always been in favor of lowering corporate taxes, repealing Obamacare, returning the EPA to its original mission, and lightening the iron hand of regulation, all of which will mean more American jobs.
