I’ll pass on that one.
If they did, maybe they’d sell Metal Rescue a little cheaper.
We have 1 Walmart, 4 Food Lion, 3 Harris Teeter and a new Publix coming soon. No reason to go there.
Yep the Marxist media doesn't understand capitalism.
Thanks! That was informative and very helpful.
Thanks for that write up. I’ll be looking for air-chilled chickens...and probably eating more beef as a result.
Water-chilled = *yuck*
“I suspect they will revert to the normal shopping habits after a week or two”
That was my thought also. I tend to buy very little that’s not on sale, and I will remain inclined to go to my local Kroger, less than a mile away, than to drive 10 miles to WF.
Soon as you like a product Walmart Corp Office discontinues it at my store. They tell me it doesn’t sell at a certain percentage. This has happened on four different occasions with four products. I live in a small town in AR and there is no competition. Manager tells me there is nothing he can do. It is all the Corp computer system.
The thin sliced boneless pork chops....bread them and fry. Awesome..It's a super fast meal with instant mashed potatoes and a vegie.
I always buy my beef in bulk and cut single portions. Works for me but I'm cooking for one. 80/20 is fine...and a little more flavorful.
Chicken thighs are 79 cents this week. Will make soup and freeze.
They have India food in jars...sauces...Tika Marsala sauce is addicting. Journey To India is brand. With meat or simply with rice. Sooooo tasty. I stocked up for winter.
I buy almost everything there now except coffee. It's just around the corner.
Not really....to me $12/lb chicken breast + Volvos = people I care not to associate with and an establishment I care not to patronize.
Remember,I live in the belly of the beast...the home of Princess Liawatha herself...within a few miles of Harvard Square (yah,*that* Harvard).
So at what point do the Democrats decide Amazon is too big and needs to be broken up? Oh wait, Amazon are a bunch of Lefties, nevermind...
Stealing? Are the kidnapping them and forcing them into Whole Foods?
Or is The Mothership earning them with better products, better service and lower prices?
I lead a boys outdoor group. Beer’s not allowed. Sorry.
Actually it was hot dogs. We needed a fast and easy to prep lunch for Sunday before parents picked up.
Saturday dinner was great. A friend brought a few live rabbits and chickens and gave the boys an opportunity to find out just where their meat comes from.
Almost all of them joined in to help dress the animals, then they cooked them on campfires with spits.
It was a fun and memorable trip.
This is a rapidly growing area that is currently dominated by start-ups like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh and Home Chef (along with about a dozen others).
For those not familiar with the meal kits, you purchase on a weekly basis a number of meals depending on size of your family. Each week, you receive a box on your doorstep with all the ingredients necessary to prepare a set number of meals, along with glossy instruction cards on how to prepare each recipe. The perishable food items are packed in ice and can theoretically sit on your doorstep for a day without anything getting spoiled. You get the exact amount of ingredients you need with no waste, including spices. So if a recipe calls for a pinch of tarragon, you get a tiny container of tarragon in your box.
Average cost of a meal (for one person) is $10. But we are not talking plain old spaghetti and meatballs out of a can here. These are somewhat complicated restaurant quality dishes that might cost $15 or more as an entree at a restaurant. So not intended to be an every night thing. Most meal kits are just for three nights a week.
I've been using one of these services for about a year now and we are very happy with it. You do need to have some cooking skills though. Typically it will take 45 minutes to put together and cook a meal. But a great alternative to going to a restaurant, especially during the week when you just want to stay home.
It is conceivable that these meal kits will expand to where practically all your groceries are delivered to your doorstep. I believe this is where the grocery industry is heading and this is why Amazon purchased Whole Foods.
Thank you!!
That should be on a billboard across from PETA’s national HQ.
Yeah, I occasionally shoped at the local Whole Paycheck, and once the little earth muffin cashier commented that she thought food should be free.
I assured her she was absolutely correct, the farmer didn't deserve to be paid for all his labor and risk, the field hands didn't deserve to be paid for all the pruning, wrangling and harvesting they did, the truckers didn't deserve to be paid to move the food from farm to factory, the factory workers didn't deserve to be paid for converting raw farm produce and animals into packaged goods, her coworkers didn't deserve to be paid for stocking the shelves, and SHE didn't deserve pay for taking my money, so how about knocking the 50¢ she got paid ringing up my order off my bill?
Nice!
“A Lowes Foods is renovating a former Bi Lo in my area.”
Lowes has outstanding fresh sausage. I have a profound weakness for Lowes’ smoked maple sausage. I shop there to buy the sale items, especially the two-for-one frosted cinnamon rolls when offered. (You’ll gain five pounds just looking at them.)
It means they aren't dumped into a tank of chilled water with hundreds of other carcasses to be rapidly cooled.
Wouldn't be so bad if the water was changed out once in a while...
Yeah. Way back when, 60 minutes called it fecal soup.
