Under a phase-out plan announced by President Donald Trump last month, over 150,000 people covered by the Obama-era DACA program were given the chance to submit renewals.
Tens of thousands of young people eligible for renewed protection from deportation had yet to submit their applications hours before a Trump administration deadline Thursday night. The administration was finalizing details of an immigration wish list that could jeopardize a long-term fix.
Under a phase-out plan announced by the president last month, more than 150,000 young people covered by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program whose permits were set to expire before March 5 were given the chance to submit renewals provided they arrive by October 5.
Trump gave Congress six months to come up with a legislative replacement for the program. It shielded from deportation hundreds of thousands of young people, many of whom were brought into the U.S. illegally as children, and allowed them to work legally in the country.
While final numbers wouldnt be available until next week, DHS spokesman David Lapan said that about 118,000 of the roughly 154,000 people eligible for renewals had submitted their applications by mid-day Thursday. That left 36,000 _ or about 23 percent of those eligible _ outstanding. Facilities processing applications were prepared to accept courier deliveries until midnight, he said.
The deadline approached as the Trump administration finalized the details of a set of immigration principles that could upend efforts to come up with a permanent fix for DACA recipients, often known as Dreamers.

Obama official in the program said 40-50% were fraudulent.
Trump knew this would happen
Of course - it was never any true "program". Just phony baloney political theatre - the protestors, the dreamer sob stories, the whole nine yards - an elaborate puppet show. It only existed as a functional program inside the media. It's being outed as a fraud and the hammer can come down on it.

Some are on the lam, some are in jail, some are back in Mexico. They aren’t all budding Rhodes scholars or future millionaires.

They’re not renewing as they were fraudulent in the first place, and don’t want to expose their whereabouts, because they know they will be deported, or they are afraid they will be deported anyway so they don’t expose their whereabouts.

Sign in last pictdure says “dapa” instead of “daca.” Does the “p” stand for “parents?”

Does the p stand for parents?
I think that is correct - here ia a statement from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement website
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiated the orderly wind down of the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). For more information, read the 2017 DACA announcement on the USCIS website.
2017 Update: On June 15,2017, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly, after consulting with the Attorney General, signed a memorandum rescinding the November 20, 2014 memorandum that created the program known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) because there is no credible path forward to litigate the currently enjoined policy. For more information, visit DHS.gov.
2015 Update: On February 16, 2015, a federal district court temporarily enjoined the government from proceeding forward on the former Secretarys policy of DAPA and expanded DACA. The injunction does not affect the existing 2012 DACA initiative.
On November 20, 2014, former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson issued new policies which allow certain aliens who arrived in the United States on or before January 1, 2010 to apply for deferred action, a form of prosecutorial discretion under which aliens are not removed from the United States and that authorizes them to seek permission to work lawfully in the United States. The former Secretarys policies apply to certain individuals who came to the United States as children under the age of 16 of who are parents of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent resident children.

Thanks; my town is FILLED with illegals, and nothing is done because without them we’d close half our public schools. They are parasites, contributing NOTHING - but we did lose our local hospital because of unpaid medical bills for illegals.

Let the system fail. Then scream to the high Heavens that there was enough time to file, Trump is anti-immigrant, etc. It's a strategy.
