They have a ways to catch up.

With effort, they could. And both the US and Japan could significantly increase too.

The technology gap is still significant too. Our stuff is better across the board. And the Japanese get access to any and all of it.

Our warship construction capacity sucks. Our industrial base is on steep decline and we have one dry dock that can be ued for CVN repair and construction. You might want to rethink what you said.
