As virtually everyone has noted from the abundant video footage of the incident, it certainly sounds as if the shooter used either fully-automatic weapons or semi-automatic weapons modified (through, for example, a bump fire stock) to closely simulate automatic fire. Moreover, the police are reporting that he had “more than 10 rifles.” He apparently rented his corner room for days and may have even set up cameras to detect when police were approaching. That’s all strange enough, but it’s even more unusual when you consider that his own family apparently didn’t know that he maintained a stockpile of guns.

Put all this together, and the shooting is flat-out bizarre. It’s significantly different from virtually any other mass shooting in U.S. history. If the weapons were fully automatic, then he likely would have spent immense sums of money to obtain them legally, jumping through extensive legal hoops.

So, a person who’s “not a gun guy” has either expended untold thousands of dollars to legally purchase fully-automatic weapons, somehow found them on the black market, or purchased and substantially modified multiple semi-automatic weapons — and did so with enough competence to create a sustained rate of fire. This same person also spent substantial sums purchasing just the right hotel room to maximize casualties.

Given the firepower and the packed mass of people, it’s easy to see how the casualty count was so high, even firing from an extreme range (by the standards of mass shootings.) This was the University of Texas tower attack on steroids, conducted out of nowhere, with meticulous planning and at great expense, from a person who doesn’t seem to fit any normal profile of a mass shooter. There is much we have yet to learn, but for now, this is one of the most chilling and mysterious events I’ve ever seen.

600 people were not shot. A large number of people were hospitalized with injuries received trying to flee the shooting. We don’t know how many were actually hit by bullets, aside from the 59 killed.

Me too. I would still be in shock were this one of my family members, yet they immediately come out stating he was not political, religious or a gun nut. How do they know this if they rarely had contact?

Although I don't have his experience, I also heard two distinct weapons, each firing more than thirty round bursts and one with a varying rate of fire. Last night, I asked an Afghanistan veteran if fully automatic weapons vary their firing rate. He told me that they need particularly good maintenance and without it they can act erratically, especially if long bursts are fired.
False flag operation... I'm betting the guy was a big time gun control advocate....

The only way we confirmed there were ONLY three shots a Dealey Plaza was for “conspiracy nuts” to keep asking questions til a police motorcycle mic picked up four distinct “pops”-—which were later shown to be three shots from Oswald’s gun & a motorcycle backfire-—and absolutely NO sounds coming from the grassy knoll.
In this case we have TWO pretty clear videos with muzzle flash at the 4-6 floors. OTOH -—so far-—I have yet to see ONE vid with any muzzle flash from the 32nd. Why did it take an hour to get there ? Maybe cuz if no muzzle flash the cops were working purely on unreliable sound.
You make some great points. I don’t know if one shooter could do all that damage or not. But I do wonder why he felt the need to shoot from two different windows so far apart. There were plenty of fish in a great big barrel and by running back and forth between windows he decreased his kill time and decreased the number of victims..
Well, what if a person committed crimes which paid really well? If he ended up with a ton of money, he would need to come up with some sort of cover story, in fact, he would probably have to come up with a number of stories and anything out on the net that people could Google might poke holes in these stories.
His behavior was consistent with hiding something, and the most logical thing would be criminal activity since: accountants are not known for being multi-millionaires, the children of prison inmates are not known for being the beneficiaries of societies opportunities, and it doesn’t sound as though this “real estate developer” actually developed enough real estate to make the kind of money that he made.

Look, I am not trying to pick a fight with anyone. However, the reaction from parents and the medical examiner was less than normal. And that is just at the heart of all the weird noncense at SH. At some point in time, we forgot as a nation what normal was. If you witness real people who have lost a small child in a sudden attack, they respond nothing like these people, however, most people don’t know that because they don’t normally go on tv. I ask you to watch a you tube video called “We need to talk about Sandy Hook” Then come back with comment.
