Their own American Library Association’s statement:

“Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers — in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

To continue to raise awareness about the harms of censorship and the freedom to read, the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) publishes an annual list of the Top Ten Most Challenged Books, using information from public challenges reported in the media, as well as censorship reports submitted to the office through its challenge reporting form.

Find out which books made the Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2016 and explore Top Ten talking points, infographics and social media art on the Top Ten resource page. View the 2017 State of America’s Library Report for more information on censorship, library trends and research.”

Thanks, although it doesn’t look much like chastisement, but rather a CYA by her superiors, while they give her a nudge/nudge/wink/wink approval.

Ms. Singham: “Fired back?” It sounded like the First Lady’s office response was quite polite.

Nice spin, once again, from the MSM. /s

What wasn’t polite was that idiot librarian rejecting a gift for the children of the school.

Did the librarian had the authority to do this; just wondering if the principal or adminstrators had anything to say about this slap in the face to the First Lady.

Amazing, a librarian who burns books.

Ray Bradbury would approve.

I wish Melania would give this b!tch a good, old-fashioned Eastern European smackdown.

I am half Czechoslovakian and I would love that. LOL!

It won't happen, but Mrs. Trump, we are on your side! :)

I bet, that Waikiki Massachusetts elementary school librarian, would reject any Bernstein Bears books, using her insane reason for rejecting Dr Seus Books.

My daughter worked a high school job at a library and loved it. She is now the Children’s department Lead at a Barnes and Noble. Barely squeaking buy in retail but absolutely loves introducing kids to the adventure of reading.

Sadly, the degree requirements to be a librarian are so insane she doesn’t feel she can justify the years required, nor the cost.

Plus she’s very conservative and probably won’t survive the hardcore lefty indoctrination process.

She set a goal in January to sell 100 copies of her favorite children’s book. It’s called Peter and the Starcatcher’s. (sort of a prequel to Peter Pan) Two weeks ago, she sold her 200th copy for the year.

I sent an email to the author (Dave Barry) and asked him to
Congratulate her. She was so excited to get a personal letter from her favorite author.

I read “The Butter Battle Book” in my youth and thought it was about nuclear war.

OMG, is that her? Holy cow. What is she protesting? Is there some huge movement to ban books where she lives?

She seems completely unhinged.

btw, if TLC’s “What Not to Wear” were still on, I would nominate her, out of sympathy.
