Von Miller Ads Being Pulled After Anthem Protest
CBS Local Denver ^ | 09/25/2017

Broncos linebacker Von Miller may be out an endorsement deal as a result of kneeling during the national anthem.

Before the team’s game with the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Miller was one of 32 members of the Broncos who took a knee to protest what they see as racial injustice in the country.

politics now more important than football in the NFL. Perhaps that explains the execrable performance of the Broncs against the Bills Sunday: protesting more important than winning.

The NFL is busily digging it’s own grave, just like Hollywood did when they became more focused on politics instead of making entertaining movies that people actually would pay money to go see.

Spitting in the face of your customers every week is a VERY bad business decision!

From a FORMER die-hard Broncos fan!

I'm guessing different folks can see this symbolic linking of arms a whole bunch of different ways. It obviously doesn't DO anything - other than advertising for whatever cause they are trying to deal with.

I recall Coach Carrol talked about “creating a dialog” or something.

I think, as with anything, it is what you actually DO. So Baldwin's bridge thing is I think a reasonable way to get different “sides” together (primarily the police and the kids in Baldwin's case I think) and see how they can work with each other. Or at least lend his appearances to the various things to help promote what is already going on.

I've read stuff that black kids in bad neighborhoods see the police as their enemy. That no doubt has been ingrained in them by the thugs around them. Getting to meet and know each other is always better than just getting your perspectives from your thug friends or the media. No surprise that Baldwin chose the police/community issue - his dad was a cop.

Michael Bennett probably has a different viewpoint. It wouldn't surprise me that he will fund BLM to protest on the courthouse steps in Las Vegas when he shows up to sue them for whatever. “Yeah - the cops stopped me because I was a black guy!” I am guessing that 70% of the crowd was black. And lots of blacks just calmly walking around - Bennett was really scared I think and took off running, which is what caught the cop's attention. Plus from the sound of his lawsuit, he's a wimp.

Bennett is lucky he wasn't a white guy walking out of the Las Vegas Costco.

The first amendment only applies if the government tries to shut down free speech and punish people for speaking freely.

It does not apply in private businesses or in a private home. If someone says what you do not like, you can toss them out.

And....I agree that that nobody is protected by the consequences of what they say as long as it is not the government shutting down or punishing people.

Freedom of speech does not mean that there will not be consequences for said speech.

This whole NFL protest thing has gotten so strange that:
1. I have no idea what it is even about
2. I do not even care what it is about

It is simply a movement that started in Kaepernick's crotch as he was convinced by his muslim girlfriend that blacks are being systemically discriminated against and targeted by white cops. So it is based on a narrative that is provably false and that Kaepernick perpetuated because (a) he is to stupidly blind to deal with facts and (b) he wants to get laid regularly.

protest what they see as racial injustice in the country

Is that what the protest is about?

I've seen very little about the objective of the protest. In fact I have the hunch that the players do not know what they are protesting or why.

The flag and the anthem represent the nation, which begs the question, do they protest the flag because they want the Federal government to do something unconstitutional.

The "Police" are not a function of the Federal government.
